I may have already asked this but I am dingy and can't remember. Has anyone around here ever had a guinea pig? Emma's birthday is coming up and DH promised her a puppy. I've got her talked down to a guinea pig. Do they really make good pets?

Sorry Marie, can't help you with the guinea pig. I've had fish, cats, dogs, and a weird bout with pet mice when a friend's snake wouldn't eat them. I didn't like them very much but I felt bad for them...

Had a guinea pig when I was younger and I loved him! His name was Ginka Pig. He was one of the ones that has the hair that sticks up all over. I would love to get another one some day.

Morning.

Hi everyone! Just wanted to quickly post an update...

Elowyn arrived this morning at 5:24am after a 2 1/2 hour labor. Quite a big difference from Rylan's 13 hour labor! She's 6lbs 10oz. She's a sweet little thing, content and doesn't fuss at all. She had low blood sugar for most of today, but finally got it back up to normal tonight. Rylan met her this afternoon and was so curious about her...it was precious.

I'm not sure exactly when I'll be discharged, but hopefully I'll be able to get some pics up soon. Thanks so much for the thoughts and prayers!

WELCOME LITTLE MISS ELOWYN!!

I'm at work so this is just a quick hello.

Sorry I can't help with the G. Pig. When we were getting a pet I told my kids: NO reptiles, NO amphibeans, NO rodents, NO fish, NO insects and NO cats!! Needless to say we have a dog!

Please keep the snow...it's still sunny here and cool (around 40)

Better get to work.

TTYL

Pikester, was your little piggie loveable? My DD loves to pick things up and tote them around. The poor cat gets tired of it but I have read that the guinea pigs really like being cuddled. Also, did one do fine on it's own. I also read that they do better with a buddy. Of course, I read that at a guinea pig rescue so they may have been trying to find homes for more of them. Might consider two but would rather not if I don't really need to.

I just stopped in to say good morning. I'm going to visit a friend in the hospital. She was having tests this am. She had a stroke. I was shocked. She's around 55...do not know what caused it yet.
It's windy but the sun is out. Don't know if anyone had frost---was to get down to 34 last night.

Marie: I only had the one. He belonged to my Aunt first but she needed to find a home for it and he came to me. My Dad use to get upset because I didn't clean the cage as often as I should but he built the thing this palace that was hard to take care off. I remember taking Ginka out of the cage and letting him run around on the floor (cats just stared at him but I wouldn't have left him alone) and I would hold him up by my ear and he would tickle my neck while he was sniffing around. I've had a gerbal before and my sister has had a hamster but I felt that it was easier to cuddle the guinea pig. I would like to point out that they are like any animal that if you smother it too much and it doesn't like it then it may bite.

Marty:  for your friend.

Still snowing here. It's not amounting to much though.

M&N - Hope they find out what happened to your friend. How scary!!!

Pike - Sending my sympathies for your snow. :guilty: So glad its sunny and in the upper 50s here today.

Congrats to Mary!!!!

Marie - Never had a GP but another teacher at school had one. It was cute but very tempermental. She really had to watch it around the kids.

Good Afternoon all!!

M&N ~ I am sorry to hear about your friend. I hope she gets better and finds out what caused it.

Pikester ~ Snow?! In April?!

I have to make potatoes before lunch time...ack.

It was flurrying this morning when I took the dog out. I said a few unladylike things when I saw it.

I find that hard to believe! Not YOU Kitty!!! Never!:lmao:

Look what it's doing at my house!

:scared1::scared1::scared1: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!:scared1::scared1::scared1:

Oh M&N, sorry to hear about your friend! I hope she will be OK. So young!

Thanks for the link M&N. I will have to check that one out. I hope your friend is okay.

Pikester, Ginka sounds like she was really cute and had a very nice living arrangement. I have already been reminding my DD that she will have to let the GP have some space especially when it first gets here. I have been told that the GPs are at least a little less likely to bite than some of the other furry critters. I had white rats that I adopted from our class lab and gerbils when I was a kid. The white rats were cute and smart but the gerbils didn't make much of a pet. They never tamed down. Guess we will delve in and see what we think of GPs. Hopefully, it will be a little less responsibility than a puppy... although I do expect that I will be the one keeping the cage clean most of the time.

D&D, we read a series of books about a school GP named Fluffy. He's never too temperamental but he is pretty funny. I'll be sure to stay after my DD so she doesn't overstimulate the little critter.

Hope everyone has a wonderful afternoon! :flower3:

IS that snow???????

i am so stinking happy that inventory is over, last night was horrible!!! in the worse sense of the word..

It's very windy here...feels like it could snow!

Went to visit my friend. She's very thankful her face didn't sag to speech get funny or any damage to hands or feet. Her vision is affected though. Part of it is black. They still haven't said what the cause is. She's in bed hooked up to heart monitors. The blood clot is on the outside of the brain. The cause determines the treatment.

Thanks Kerrie!

HI M&N, and you are welcome!

HI Pepper! Nope he's been his normal happy self!

mariezp- thank you! I think he is perfect also!!!

mking -- Congrats on the baby. How cool!

M&N sorry about your friend. A friend of ours younger brother passed away this week. 26 years old. Do not know what happened to him yet. Poor guy had a 5 month old baby. So sad and so scary. Life, live it well.
