Now for my news. I stayed at Mom's Monday night. It was so hot and I didn't have the ac on, I figured I would enjoy a cooler night there. Plus wasn't sure of the traffic Mon pm.
As it turns out, wise decision. We had some rain after we went shopping and ate out. We were leaving a store on the other end of town from Mom's and it started raining...rained pretty hard for a few blocks. By the time we were about 5 blocks from Mom's, there was not a drop at all.
I guess the storms started around 4:30. At first we just heard the thunder. Turned to the weather channel and they had severe thunderstorm warnings up. It did finally hit at Mom's....several different times. I checked the rain guages before dark and one was 2.4 and the other 2.2. (her yard is small and I really don't think it was a difference in that small space but these are just little things.) I kept hoping it rained at my house to water the bushes Troy put in. I also hoped I didn't get a lot of water in the basement.
I come hope this am. The side of my yard has the backs of the houses from Chestnut St on them. As I was going down Chestnut to turn onto my street, I thought I saw a bunch of pine limbs on the ground. I slowly turn the corner...no my old tree is still there (big sigh). I have about 6 tall trees behind my yard...not in my yard, thankfully. One was down in my yard and the next was leaning. Thankfully, they were not on anything..except one of my rhododendrons. I hope it was just smashed and will be ok. I do not know my neighbors back there. I went out back...several men were there. I assured him it was fine...I was just glad it didn't hit any property like people's sheds.
I am also very thankful I was not home alone! He told me there was hail and of course high winds. My little rain guage had 2 inches.
Never boring!!!
