I have the same weather. Its cloudy but the sun is struggling.

Parenting is so hard, but its fun to mess with kids sometimes. Have some fun with DD this weekend.

My sinus problems are worse. My teeth hurt from the pressure. I presently have an ice pack strapped to my face with a headband. I look like a psychopathic pirate. Its time for the big guns. I'm already on antibiotics and its not kicking in yet. So I'm turning to comfort food, which today is something called canoas. Its a Puerto Rican recipe, which is basically plantains stuffed with tomato based beef mixture with melted cheese on the top. Yeah, its bad for you, but it takes so so good.

We are getting ready for our next home project. Bought new blinds a couple of weeks ago for our living/dining room. Today we ordered new drapes and bought new curtain rods. I didn't think we could find one long enough to cover all three windows. The windows are too close for separate ones. I should have checked Home Depot earlier. When we get back from the trip we'll buy some paint. Finally getting rid of the white walls..hehe.

JO ~ sorry it's been a sucky couple of days...hope Curt is feeling better and you have my sympathies re: teenage girls...something I'm definitely NOT looking forward to with DD.

Evening! The afternoon ended up beautiful. Curt cooked out on the grill and we just got back from getting the kids ice cream.

We had a long talk with Jackie earlier. She did tell me that she was afraid of me last night when we finally met up. I say good. At least she knew that she really screwed up.

Sukie, I was hoping you could tell me what to do about the kids.

Ev, there are some good things about having a teen. As soon as I figure it out, I'll let you know.

DL55, I really want to paint in here too. But until the kids are older, it's not worth it. Any idea on what color you want to do?

It's funny you say that about Sukie because we were just talking about when I was a teen. Sometimes I did things that I didn't realize were going to be trouble and other times I did things that I knew darn well were going to be trouble and hoped I didn't get caught.

I would always do things that I knew I would get in trouble for. Didn't really care until the time my parents grounded me the last 3 weeks of my senior year. That was the worst hell I could imagine at the time. Now I know that losing texting is worse.

It looks as though everyone is having a good weekend since no one has posted in hours.

We went and bought the kids a pool today. And of course, we can't find our air pump to inflate it. We also stopped at a picnic at my SIL house. Didn't stay long since it was a last minute invite.

LITC, I see Walter is chilling in his shades. He just knows that he is cool.

In SUCH a bad mood right now. DH car is dead (basically) and to get it going we would have to put more money into it than it is even worth, and that isn't a guarantee that something ELSE won't break. SO now we are in a scramble to find a "new" (used) car SOON, because our schedules just can't accomodate us being a one car family. And even worse, since we have no money saved right now, this puts Hershey in big jeopardy for us. If I can still swing anything, it would probably be to drive up the day of the cookout, meet everyone stay for the picnic, stay overnight and come home the next day. That would mean one less night of hotel to pay for and of course no park tickets. But we have to see what we end up with monthly payment wise before I know for sure.

LITC, that just sucks about the car. We just had to get a new battery for our van. Not anywhere as bad as having to get a new car but it was a totally unexpected expense.

Been spending every waking min. outside because the weather has been GORGEOUS!!! First Memorial Day weekend in years that we've had upper 80s-90 and sunny!!! We put the pool up yesterday and had a little trouble getting the filter to work properly. Kids didn't care. They were in it from the moment we turned on the hose. Can barely get them to come in at night to go to sleep.

LITC - tell Captian Adorable that I love that picture in the swing. Too cute.
That so stinks about the car. Never a dull moment. I really hope you can make it for picnic.

Kitty - Love your ice pack photo. You need a Hello Kitty ice pack and then you'd be stylin'!!! I know how bad sinus pain can be so I hope you feel better soon.

The sinuses are slowly getting better...its my third day of antibiotics. There's still some pressure, but not nearly as bad as it was the day I went pirate. You have a good point there about the Hello Kitty ice pack! I wonder if I can fashion an ice pack cover out of some material? Where's Bopsmom? She's the sewing goddess, right?

Just chilling out over here and enjoying the day, as I hope everyone else is too!

I totally agree. We just want to "go with it" this trip.

I'll explain. Yesterday, both M&N and I had a pirate drinking from a blue cup in our siggies. Originally, it was a large Mickey balloon "borrowed" from Kimmar's siggie. Grumpy Pirate kindly shrunk it down so it wouldn't take up so much room. There was a bit of an argument on where the balloon came from. GP decided to prove the balloon was from him and for several hours yesterday, he changed the balloon to a pirate drinking. After proving his point, he changed it back. Since D&D and M&N both got the balloon from me, I figured I should explain the pirate. If you didn't see it, I'm sure I looked like a nut. Sorry, JO, I know you wanted a nut free zone.

I felt absolutely terrible yesterday and didn't make it back on to better explain myself. Sorry.

Hope you are feeling better now. LOL, Grumpy Pirate. I guess the name is fitting for him.

Kitty, it is the pregnancy. I wouldn't call it typical, but its not unusual either. All of mine have been different, ranging from hardly any nausea to vomiting water and needing an IV for fluids. I'd say this is the 3rd worst of the 6. It should end when the second trimester begins in a few weeks.

I hadn't realized Gary Coleman passed. It seems strange to me, also. Sad.

It's really hard to pick one thing...I really enjoying visiting our friends in Denver, and Vegas was great but I have to say I really love Sedona. Beautiful place and great weather.

We are finally home from the concert outing and boy am I pissed. Jackie has succeeded in giving me a dozen new gray hairs tonight.

I apologize in advance about this being so long.

She went to the concert tonight. 4 performers up at a local outdoor arts/crafts/music festival. Her friends mom was driving the girls and staying for a while. Curt and I would head up for the night shift. I told Jackie to text me and let me know about what time the friends mom was leaving. Curt and I didn't want her up there without some parent near by.

She never texts so I text her around 7pm. Jackie texts me back to say the girls mom is leaving in 1/2 hour. Well, good thing we were already on our way since it takes about 1/2 hour to get there. I text when we get there and tell her text me right before the last performer is starting so we can be in the general area when the concert ends.

It's getting late....no text. 9:45 and still no text. We head over by the stage because we knew about when the concert was suppose to end. The concert ends and they are nowhere to be found. I'm standing at the place I told her to meet up. And being the anal retentive mom that I am, I had printed out a map of the place and circle where the stage is and where they are suppose to meet us.

By this point, Curt is walking around the area looking for her, I'm calling & texting her and no reply. I finally get a hold of her and she tells me that she's waiting for autographs. I am soooo pissed. Curt has been up since 4am and he had an accident at work. Being out till after 11pm is not what he wanted to be doing.

But she never thinks about anyone else nor can she remember what we tell her. And to make matters worse, I sign onto FB tonight and see that she had been updating her status on facebook all night. She can remember that but can't remember to text us. She just proved how irresponsible she is.

So the phone is gone for the holiday weekend to start. That's a no brainer. Tomorrow we are going to have a long talk....again.

OOOOHHHH Don't they just make you so mad sometimes!!! They don't care that we worry and I don't know about you, but my two will try to make ME feel like the idiot "You really need to stop worrying so much Mom." Heaven help me I get mad just thinking about it. . Warped Tour is coming up, so I will be right there with you.

It's going to be a hot one here today. Curt is outside working on setting up the pool. I've put earplugs in the kids' ears so they don't learn any new curse words.

pepper, don't the kids know by now that it's our job to worry?

MK, glad you are feeling a little better. And I bet somewhere has to sell Hello Kitty ice packs. We have Disney Princess ones that we use to the kids. Picked them up at the Dollar Store.

My DD and I went to a wine festival yesterday. Had fun tasting different wines.

Evening! We got the pool up following a lot of foul language. Livvie and Alexis love it. We had a hard time getting them out. Jackie swears she won't go in it but I think once the summer gets really hot, she'll be in there.

We didn't do much else today. It was really hot here....the heat index was 99*. And you all should sit down now.....I wore shorts today.

DL55, a wine festival sounds much better than all the music festivals we have here. I would even drink wine if I could find one of those.
