TKers...8 is NOT enough!

Wendy, you be careful out there. Its cold and there are lots of people on their way home.

I'm tired of wrapping at the moment. Taking a break to do some reading then back to the grind later. There's a Hallmark movie on tonight after Amazing Race. John Corbett is in it--I've always had a crush on all 6'4" of manliness of him. I also enjoy the Hallmark commercials---they're so heartwarming!

Would it be wrong to just eat pigs in blankets for dinner? I'm tired of cleaning up. Cooking will only make more messes...

Good evening TKers! :goodvibes

Not too much going on here at the Pikester household this evening. We all spent the day doing pretty much nothing and then a spurt of "choring" would hit and then back to the pretty much nothing. The Christmas Tree is decorated and I bought a new tree topper at Walmart. This year I bought new LED lights and the topper I had did not have LED lights in it so they did not match. Looked a little funny but I was able to find the same one with LED lights in it for $10. It's all good now.

Wendy: Good Luck finding just the right tree topper. Stay warm and tell DD not to tire herself out too much at practice.

Magi: The new TVs are so lite aren't they! The first time I picked one up I about threw into the ceiling. Those Hallmark commercials tear me up everytime. One of my favorites is when the woman gives a card to her collage professor for inspiring her in her career selection. He's says something about what a lawyer, Dr, etc. She says no, a teacher. :sad1:

M&N: Wow, what a trip! Someday.....:)

Hello to Jo and Ev!

About to start round 2 of the wrapping. All my materials and tools are prepped.

I'm a little frustrated with DirecTv right now. I called to find out about upgrading to HD service and they won't cut me a break. I have to pay $100 for the receiver THEN pay $5 each month to have it in my home. Huh? I want that $100 waived and they won't give it to me. I'm planning to threaten to move to DISH network if need be. I can understand paying the monthly for it, but $100 to get it? and its not even a delivery fee---the guy has to come out to my house anyway. Grr....I've sent out a disgruntled letter pleading my case and we'll see what's going to happen.

Pike--I love that commercial too! Hallmark is based in Kansas City, and they have a museum you can visit. They actually have an exhibit where you sit in little booths and watch all the commercials. BF had to practically drag me out of there!

Evening!

I finally found a way to make the Dis load faster for me. I added an ad-blocker to my browser and the difference is great. I had been staying away some since it always took so long for it to load here. It's so much better than it ever was.

Has anyone seen LITC around? I don't remember seeing her post in a while.

LITC is at her happy place this week. She told me a few weeks ago just in case anyone asked about her absence. She's not supposed to be away during this time of year from work, so she had a "procedure" done...I think a "root canal". I can't wait to hear how Walter reacted!

Last time he was there, he was just a bump in her tummy and I was talking to them both atop the Japan pavillion before Illuminations....

Thanks, MK. And it can just our little secret here. ;)

Just talked to Curt...he probably won't make it to his hotel till about 2am. Looks like I'll have along night ahead of me too.

What did you end up having for dinner?

Hi All!!!! Sorry I haven't really been around. But wanted to pop in and say we are all fine. Will try and come back and post more tomorrow, I am beyond tired! Love you guys and missed you.

I had mashed sweet potatoes and three pigs in blankets. Nutritious, I know.

Where is Curt staying and how long will he be away this time? How are you doing keeping down the fort?

This Hallmark movie is going to make my lashes fly off. I have another hour and I'm crying already.

Speak of the devil! Hey LITC! I just spilled about you....

LITC, you better come back tomorrow and post. You have to tell us all about it.

MK, I forget what hotel but I know he's about 10 minutes from Toledo. He's hoping he only has to stay 2 weeks until he gets to come home for a few days. Then he'll probably have to go back until the 23rd. After that, who knows.

Kids are fine. We're just chilling watching iCarly. :rotfl:

It's still technically the holiday weekend, so everything is nutritious and has no calories.

JO--I like that thinking! I better sneak a piece of pie in while it still has zero calories...

That's a rough schedule for you and the family. I hope the weather holds out and Curt can finish up early and come home to you sooner. Does he work with the same people at each assignment? it must be tough for him too....

There's a whole tray of cookies sitting on our table calling my name. I have a habit of grabbing one each time I walk into the kitchen.

It's always the same guys (unless someone gets fired/hurt). It's tough but nothing new. He takes it harder than I do and I don't blame him. He's away from all of us and his home. I still get to have the kids drive me nuts.

I only wish they would send him out of town during the summer. Then the kids and I would join him for part of the job.

Well, at least the guys know each other well and can work together. Its just tough if there's someone you don't like. It must be hard to be away from home for long stretches of time.

It would be nice if you could accompany him on some of those stretches far from home.

its supposed to get down to the teens tonight. I'm already cold in my flannel jammies and socks. Ugh!

I haven't checked what the temps are suppose to be here. I just know I'm cold, always cold lately.

I don't know if I told you, both my brother and SIL came over for T-day. Together. They are not back together but they decided to put things aside for their son. They were both polite and civil to each other.

Of course, if I already said this, totally disregard that part of my post.

You did mention it, and I'm so happy for your family. Its a really good sign that they recognize they need and can put their issues aside for really special times and for their child. It is a season of miracles and goodwill. Its nice to see it start at home.

My cousin arrives in a few weeks and I'm already fretting on what to do with him. Of course, any adventures we may have completely depends on the weather. Its been brisk here, but my area is so fortunate that the dreaded white stuff hasn't made its big showing yet. We usually have a significant storm by this time. Crossing my fingers!

Between here and FB, I forget what I posted where. Must be old age. :lmao:

What does your cousin like to do? How often does he get to visit?

Good morning! Bright but really cold out there. I guess there's hope it'll warm up later. Rumor has it that Walmart's BF deals are even cheaper now, esp. the electronics. I'm hoping to go later and see what blu-ray players are going for.

Sorry JO that I went missing last night. The last 30 minutes of the Hallmark movie really got me sobbing. It was kinda of a letdown coz in the opening of the movie you already knew something, but regardless, it was so exquisite and heartbreaking.

I haven't seen my cousin in 10 years. My sister hasn't seen him in 15. Thing is, he's a bit younger than me--almost 10 years. so what would a 27 year old guy want to do? Probably stuff I'm too old for! He'll be visiting us for 10 days before spending 5 days in the city. Weather (and mood) permitting, we may head down to the city for the day.

He's a welder by trade, so I was hoping to take him to a place called Storm King. Its an outdoor sculpture museum. Lots of famous works there. Again, its outdoor, so it depends on just how cold it is. Nearby is also an extension of the art museum. I was going to take him to Woodstock and the site, there's a museum there too. He wants to go skiing/snowboarding, but he's on his own for that.

Good Morning,
No Cyber Monday deals for me yet. :sad1: Hoping to find something good. I think Friday was a better day.

Evening!

I finally found a way to make the Dis load faster for me. I added an ad-blocker to my browser and the difference is great. I had been staying away some since it always took so long for it to load here. It's so much better than it ever was.

Did you have to purchase this? If not, please share details w/ me.

That is so exciting that you are finally getting to see your cousin again.
Think you should try skiing w/ him. Or maybe tobogganing? I haven't be sledding in years but all the ski hills around here offer that as an option for those of us who like to be closer to the ground.

Morning! I didn't get to bed until after 3am because I was up waiting for Curt to get to his hotel. Today is the kids last day of vacation....thank goodness. They have been driving me crazy. :lmao:

MK, I think the museums sound great. As for what a 27 year old guy would want to do, I am totally clueless.

D&D, what internet browser do you use? Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome? I know both firefox and Chrome have a free extension you can download to get rid of the ads on web pages but I haven't used IE for years so I'd have to look. But I don't see why they wouldn't too.
