I have discovered the joy of the Kindle. I wanted the second book in a series the other night and POOF! I had it.

No, the Kindle is not named yet. But I have decided it is a boy. I also ordered a skin for it, in purple. Pink wasn't available.

With use, if you get a Kindle, its the accessories that will get you. You will need a case and a light at the very least. I also ordered a screen protector, but I'm just paranoid like that.

That's the part of the Kindle that really has me suckered in to wanted one. The "instant poof" part. Sometimes, I'll pick up the first part of series to see if I like it and if I do, I want the next part NOW. I'm impatient that way.

Did it take a lot of getting use to compared to paper books? I spend so much time on the computer, I don't think it would make much difference to me but still like to hear.

And it's a boy but you are getting him a purple cover? He's very secure in his masculinity, isn't he.

I do miss the tactile sensation of holding a book and flipping the pages. I miss that paper smell too.

The way I justify it is that the new releases on the Kindle are way cheaper than buying the hardcover in the store. But a part of me will always love picking up bargain books out of the bin. Also, how will I ever discover new books? I usually just find books on the clearance rack and I've found a new author, or series.

The Kindle is a dull charcoal gray. I needed to give him some oomph. Purple is my default color if pink isn't available. He'll get used to it.

MK, one more question.......do you know if the Kindle has an automatic shutoff after so long of inactivity? I'm one of those people that read before bed and fall asleep with the book in my hand. I'd hate to think of the battery dying every night because of my bad habits.

It does! If you just shift the button once, it goes into sleep mode. After 10 minutes of inactivity, it shuts itself off. Rumor has it that the battery lasts a month. I'll let you know.

amazon has been having lots of good sales on the accessories. Last week I got two of the lights for $10. At Staples, one light costs $20.

MK.....I think I'm going to save all my free Amazon e-certificates to get the Kindle. I have yet to see anyone say much bad about it and I really like the convenience of getting a book whenever I want. Now I have break the news to Jackie that she can't have my e-certificates that I have right now for another new pair of Converse.

LITC, whatcha drinking? Sorry work was cruddy today. Seems to be a lot of that going around.

JO--does Jackie want a specific pair? Macys sells Converse too...maybe you could use that BF coupon on it?

I only got the Wi-Fi version, not the 3G and since I have Wi-Fi in the house, it hasn't been an issue yet. You may want to consider that and save the $50 difference. I don't see myself going on safari or stuck in the desert anytime soon, so I probably won't need the 3G.

A store here called Heinens. Kind of a "posh" grocery store. We only went there to buy someone a bottle of wine as a gift, and DH ended up with that also!

It's called "Cream" and it was by the wine, it actually requires no refrigeration,it actually states on the can NOT to put in the fridge. Ours is Caramel flavored, but I think there are others also.

MK.....she just wants another pair. But she already has her Macy's coupon planned out on the jeans they have for 14.99. They are the destroyed ones from the pictures and she'll wants to get 2 pair and use her coupon. She's already planning out her coupons...I'm so proud.

It is really good stuff, it is in a copper colored can that otherwise looks like a can of reddi whip. I think it is manufactured by KINGFISH Spirits...
