Honestly, I think it has a lot to do with Facebook. Its humiliation and bullying on such a large scale. I thought we were progressing as a society but it just seems that people are scared and are lashing out at each other. There's such a lack of tolerance, its scary.

Extra prayers to those of you with little ones. You're doing such a good job of raising good, honest people. We need them.

Thanks everyone! I really should post more Walter pics. I'm always afraid I am going to turn into "that mom" that shoves pictures of their children on everyone.

Jo--those are such cool pics.

Kitty -- I hate bullying. People are so mean. And to let your kid be that way. It's beyond gross. I just read somewhere that the girl involved in that boys death feels attacked, Um HELLO? You forced someone into thinking their only option was suicide and you want sympathy? Don't think so

MK, Facebook certainly makes it easier to bully without actually having to face the person you want to bully.

LITC, you just keep posting those pictures for us.

And ever since the news story about those people who were tormenting that little girl, that's what I picture the bully's parents being like.

Evening!

JO: Those are really cool pictures!

Magi: Congrats to your friends who are adopting!

D&D: Sounds like you've been one busy lady (Read FB too). I got my front porch decorated for Halloween. I try to do it as soon as we enter October but I didn't get the chance to last weekend.

Kids have off here for Columbus Day. The only plans I have are to sleep in, do laundry and take Nathan to an appt at 4PM.

Bullying sucks! I was bullied from 5th grade to 7th. It was horrible but I never thought about taking my own life. There were a few moments in High School that really hurt me emotionally but they weren't too often so those didn't stick with me the most. The interesting thing is looking back on those years and seeing that the bullies had their own issues. One girl had a not so great home life, one girl was over weight and one guy was struggling with his sexual orientation. You'd think they would have had sympathy for their fellow classmates but nope.

LITC...I read that article too! It just adds to the problem that kids have this insane sense of entitlement. She feels like she's been judged unfairly? Did that poor Tyler ask to have his private life broadcast?

Just the fact that they could come up with such a cruel mistreatment of another human being--someone you're going to see everyday coz you're roommates--just makes me so sad. Tyler was kind enough to let his roommate know of his plans and asked him for some privacy, and he got treated so inhumanely.

and btw, you can never post too many pics of our wonderful boy. I'm just glad that you let us enjoy him so much and sharing him.

There was one boy in high school that was cruel to me because I was Asian. Strange thing is, he totally was into Asian girls. I guess he was into OTHER Asian girls. But he was really mean to me. We had lockers near each other and he would always say something to his friends about me loudly.

I saw him a few years ago and he still gives me the creeps.

I don't decorate for Halloween, but I do love to look at houses that do!

D...my friends have beenn working on this adoption for 5 years. The big problem is that they want adopted parents to live with the child for a year in the Phils before they approve the adoption. My friends went through an open adoption scenario. A woman was giving up her little girl and signed her rights over to the agency to approve. It was far from a traditional adoption route, but it gives me hope.
Wow, 5 years. Why does it takes so long? Don't they realize what these couples are going through??? I am glad that they finally are getting a little girl. That's so wonderful. :lovestruc

It really does seem like bullying has gone to the next level. I can remember being teased & bullied in elementarly school. At the time it seemed devastating but somehow I toughed it out. I think it also got me to seek out others who were misfits and we all become friends.

LITC - I agree. Can never have too many pics. :cutie:

Everyone have a nice day off tomorrow!

I think that boy really had a crush on you Kitty. ;)

My decorations are more fall than Halloween. Except for my Mickey light up pumpkin and my inflatable spider.

Morning:

Happy Columbus Day.

MK ~ Great news about your friends...and the shopping bargains of course!! :thumbsup2

DL55, all my time isn't taken up by FB. I'm actually in the middle of video game obsession. And no, it's not some game over on FB.

So watcha playing?

I also watched the BBC version of Sense and Sensibility last night---can you tell I got absolutely nothing done?--and it was wonderful. I have a lot of the BBC projects on my cue. Netflix must think I'm bipolar--half my queue is BBC and what they call "cerebral dramas" and the other is King of the Hill/Family Guy (BF's choices).

That was a good one...watched all the Austin's a couple of months ago...no one does it better than the BBC.

DL ~ Sorry I'm one of the FB junkies too...check it every morning with my coffee...I'm hit or miss here depending on how much time I have.

Hi Pike, LITC & D&D:flower3:

Good morning ladies and happy Columbus Day!

D...that boy definitely did NOT like me. Said horribly cruel and threatening things to me. I was lucky though that I had good friends who protected me and my ego. I also knew that high school was not forever and that this guy would be out of my immediate life sooner rather than later.

Ev, I'm definitely interested in more BBC productions. I have the channel BBC America, but its mostly Dr. Who and Being Human whenever I see it.

Its supposed to be rather warm today. Going to have to get the windows open and air out the house while I can do it. Yahoo!

Happy Columbus Day!

Just have to share my exciting news.....I just booked 5 nights at Universal's Royal Pacific Resort! :woohoo:

As exciting as that is I do have to point out one thing, DH made sure that I found out the cancellation policy just in case. Sooooo, let's pretend he didn't and do the happy dance because....

I'm going to Universal! I'm going to Universal! :cheer2:

We will check in on Feb 28th and check out on March 5th.
We will be at an Orlando Econo Lodge (I booked last night) for two nights prior, Feb 26th & 27th.

Woo-hoo! Congrats to Pike and the family! Its going to be such a great vacation!

Morning! I really have to get my butt in gear today and start getting ready for our trip. I did get all my shopping done yesterday for the things we need to take but I haven't even attempted to gather what we need to take. I did get the suitcases out so I guess that's something.

Ev, it's a role playing game kinda like the old Legend of Zelda that Nintendo had out years ago. Much more complex and I have a horrible obsession with beating it with a perfect game. Yes, I know I have problems. :rotfl2:

Pikester, you guys are going to have so much fun down there. Let the real planning begin now!

MK, it's pretty warm here already too. I'd like to open all the windows but Curt went around and put all the storm windows down. So now I have to go open them all again. Of course, I told him not to do it yet but he didn't listen. Typical man!

D&D, you better get a chance to get on here later and update us if the siding people came.

JOCAmom How can you be finished shopping if you haven't gathered all the stuff you need for the trip? That's when you discover you need new stuff or can't find what you're looking for. :lmao:

Pikester :cool1: Let the planning begin. :)

Hi MagiKitty and BKMETV

Now I'm a little nervous. I've been reading reviews about the Econo Lodge that I have booked for the two nights before we stay at Universal. It's located at 8738 International Drive, Orlando. Half the people say it's clean, friendly staff, clean pool, decent rooms for the price, great location to parks and then other half say the rooms are smelly, damp carpet, rude staff, bug infested. Now what?

Check the review dates. Sometimes there may have been a problem but it has been fixed. I seldom find 100% good reviews. There's always someone complaining about something. Of course 50% is significant. :scratchin
I suppose it may be difficult to keep all bugs out. What kind of bugs are we talking about? I seldom notice if the staff is rude because I don't interact with the staff except checking in. How rude can you be checking in? :confused3

Pike, how did you book the econolodge? You probably can call back with your concerns and try to change it if you want.

Also, make sure you're checking the most recent reviews. I got caught up in some bad reviews for a particular hotel, but then I saw the reviews were three years old....I always check tripadvisor and travelocity for their reviews and judge from there.

I also don't really mind some rude staff. I only see them to check in/out. its the cleanliness that I'm most concerned about....

Hey Pike, if you want I can check my Unofficial guide. They put out several books a year and in one section they include ratings on Orlando area hotels, from both the Unofficial staff, and readers that fill out reviews for them. Let me know. :thumbsup2

OK PikeI started looking anway. Your hotel is 2.5 stars, Did you look at the Best Western Kissimmee 5196 W. Irlo Bronson Mem. Hwy?, should bearound same price, with better reviews(according to book)
