I found it! I'm so happy. I swear, I had looked everywhere...but I checked again and there it was!

I know it sounds stupid, but we've discussed crappy families before. I've never felt that my grandparents and extended family really cared for me, which is fine. There's nothing I can do about that. But in my head, I always thought that if my great-grandmother knew me, she would love me so much. My mother was born in 1945, and she lived with her grandparents after the war, so my mother was very close to them. I feel that they would have loved me like grandparents should love their kids. So that's why the earring really meant so much to me. I'd like to think that I would have been special to her.

lighttech, you're going to be at Disney World with your wonderful kids! Every moment (even the possible breakdowns) will be special. Anytime I see little ones with the characters, I could just burst with happiness. I know how excited I still get to see them!

I don't even know what a Joovy is, but if I see it somewhere, I'll let you know! (a tidbit...the names of strollers were the celebrity question when I was on Millionaire. I didn't know Joovy!)

:banana::banana:
SO glad you found it!
And, nothing involving feelings for family is "stupid". Its SO complicated.

In an act of pure self-indulgence, I've discovered the show Bridezillas. How have I missed this trash before? It proves that women are just downright mean and cruel when it comes to planning their wedding, and men will go along with just about anything for a nice set of ****s.

really, I am appalled at some of the behaviour displayed on there, yet I can't turn away. I'm compelled to watch just how disgusting these women will behave. And its not like its a candid camera scenario---these women INVITED a camera crew to document their nastiness. I'm amazed.

thanks for the support lighttech! Sometimes I can't believe some of my family's antics. All I can say is that I"m glad they're far away most of the time....

Evening all...hope everyone had a great weekend.

afternoon ladies! Its a great fall day out there. The leaves are beginning to change, which is beautful yet saddening that summer is over.

Ev, you've never watched Xanadu????? Blasphemy! It was a B movie in the early 80s. All I have to say is roller skating and Olivia Newton-John. And Gene Kelly. Fabulous! There's an animated scene (don't ask) that was done by Don Bluth, of the Secret of NIMH! The music is infectious--mostly by ELO. There's a great cameo by the Tubes--they sang "she's a beauty", great 80s tune.

I think I have a mascara addiction. I've bought several in the last few weeks and now I can't stop putting it on! I'm beginning to look like Tammy Faye!

I won't tell anyone D...although if it ever comes to it, I expect you to be at my shower!

I just can't remember the roller skating sounds familiar but that was a long time ago MK. I can't remember what I had for breakfast!!

Wild horses couldn't keep me away from your shower Kitty. :yay: I'd even play corny games like making a toilet paper dress for the bride.

We could make her one of those bras with paper plates decorated with all the bows!!!

I have to share...
We got a great "Kitty" bargain this week. Red Twig Dogwood bushes were on sale 75% off at our local Menards store. Got these cute 3 ft bushes for $5 each. :cool1: We needed to plant some in the back of our yard to eventually make a hedge and I've had my eye on dogwood cuz they have these pretty white/green leaves in summer, orange in fall and then in winter the bark turns this bright red color. So pretty against the snow.

I got a bargain on a DSi on Sat and called it my 'kitty' deal...I guess you have become an adjective!! Glad to hear that you found the earring...some things are too precious to lose.

I didn't know Walter had asthma. How old is he now? We think BL has it too. He is 2. He hasn't been officially diagnosed yet, but he's on an inhaler (Flovent) every morning and night as a "preventative" and it seems like every couple of weeks he's back on his nebulizer on the albuterol too. I'm actually going to be speaking to the Dr. about it at his annual exam tomorrow. (We pushed it back a few weeks in hopes that they would have the flu shot in and we wouldn't have to go back just for that.) I'd like to try something else instead of constantly doing the nebulizer. And, the last 2 times we've used the albuterol, he's gotten a terrible upset stomach. The first time, we assumed it was related to the cold, but now, we're thinking it might be a side effect of the medicine. I dunno... Its frustrating.

It really is terribly frustrating to deal with these problems. Walter just turned 1 on September 4. They would not give an "official" diagnosis of asthma until he turned a year, but we've been on the albuterol and breathing treatments since 2 monthsold, along with a few others. They recently started him on singulair once a day to controlthe flare ups, since he gets so sick when he does have a flare up.

I'll let you know about Tusker, MK.

We've done Chef Mickey's before. The food is pretty good. Not amazing or anything, but solidly good. We usually go because its a great way to see Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald (sometimes) and Goofy. And the interactions have always been good.

I'd love to go as early as you D, but we tend to pull some late nights at WDW, and getting the kids moving that early might be a challenge. Although, we'll see how this year at CM goes. I was bummed when they pulled Chip n' Dale out. And, I don't know if you saw, but Mickey is no longer doing tableside there. I'm sort of torn on my reaction. He'll be up front for a family photo op as everyone comes in now. The picture opportunity will be great, but I always thought the table time was pretty special.

Alright, since we're all such good bargain hunters now. :rotfl: I'm searching for a great deal on a Joovy Ultralight Caboose (its a Sit n' Stand stroller) to use w/ the kids at Disney in March. I don't care if its used as long as its in reasonable condition. I'm keeping an eye on Ebay and Craigslist right now, but if anybody sees any great deals... :rolleyes1

We had to deal with that in our yard. The previous owners were going for a "natural look" and seemed to just randomly plant things everywhere. We spent the first two years just digging things out of the yard and translplanting them.

Will check out Target if I have time!

So sorry about the earring. I hope it turns up!!! Worst case scenario, don't totally panick. You can always take a single earring to a good local jeweler and ask them to turn it into a pendant for you. Most can handle something like that. And, you'd still have a special rememberance of her. But, I hope you find it anyway!

I didn't know that about cm, wht do they have to keep taking things away like that?

So happy you found the earring kitty. And you mean the world to us!

Evening ladies! I would have checked in sooner but I was too busy being pissed at Curt. Nothing major.....just our same old flair ups we have every couple of months. He'll be good for a while because I"m pretty ticked at the moment. ;)

MK, I'm so glad you found the earring. I have a couple of pins from my great-grandmother that I would be so sad if I could find them. I didn't know her well but they are still special to me.

Thank you, LITC. But I'm good. He just needs a good ol' smack upside his head. :rolleyes1 And I may do it tomorrow when I'm not so mad. Don't want to knock him out just get some sense into his head.

How are you tonight?

I've been trying to figure out if there is an alternate way through Ohio to get to Pennsy since we got caught in some horrible accident the last time we went through. I-80 just seems terrible.

Hmmm, I do not know, I am terrible with directions as it is, muchless trying to navigate from state to state.

Really that sucks? I take 80 once in awhile to get here or there within the state and I have never hit traffic on it.

It must just be our luck. When we came back from MI, there were a couple of accidents that had road shut down.

I normally wouldn't mind except Curt uses a GPS and everytime you veer off their route, you hear "recalculating" in some woman's voice for the next hour. All it ever does is tell you turn around at the next light.

I think I'll print a good map for our trip so I can pick our own route if something happens.

I hate the recalculating lady. She's annying. Sometimes I know part of my route and I know a better way for part of it. Or when we pull into our apartments, for some reason it always wants us to cut through the condos next to us, even though you can't because the road that cuts through is blocked, so we here it 5 times as we pull in or leave our apartment complex.

That exactly it. When we tried to find Jackie's current school from our house, it took us this totally roundabout way. It took us almost 30 minutes to get there when it's really only 10 minutes from our house.

Add in when you pull off the highway for a drink or a bathroom break, all you hear is recalculating every 10 feet you drive, I could smash the GPS.

I think I have a anger problem when it comes to GPS. I even yell at it. :rotfl2:

I can understand that.

I know someone that when they are using it, but don't need the directions for part of the drive just turns on the mute, until they need it again.

Well I am going to try and go to sleep. Don't feel sleepy but I'm sure I will when it is time to get up in the morning. Good night!

I'm heading out too. School tomorrow and I know I won't want to get up in the morning.

Night LITC!

Tried to post this a few minutes ago... but I lost my connection. Trying again... Hopefully the cut and paste will work.

LITC - Sorry you have to deal with this with Walter. I know the feeling. BL was sick all winter last winter. But, he wound up w/ ear tubes, and we were so focused on the multiple double ear infections, that we didn't get a lot of good answers about the coughing. We'll be up in the middle of the night w/ the albuterol regularly. Since it seems to help, I wouldn't mind (its a pain, but at least it was helping) but, he's gotten SO sick to his stomach the last 2 times, I just keep thinking there has to be a better way. The Dr. had us try the singulair instead of albuterol one time, and it did no good. But, I really think he has allergies that trigger this (the colds and viruses definitely trigger it too, but the last really bad bout was after the weather turned and we had the windows open for a few days... he got so bad he made himself throw up from coughing a few times.) So, I really think that, at least seasonally, some sort of allergy meds would help. I think I'll ask the dr. about the singulair today. (BL has his annual today - he just turned 2 in August, so we're just about a year ahead of you.)

JO - Sorry about the DH. (Should I still call him DH when he acts like this, or is there a better acronnym? :rotfl:) DH and I go through cycles like that too. Its almost like all those little things that you swear you're not gonna bother with just build up and after a couple of months, one of you explodes. (Usu. when HE does something particularly stupid.)

Alright, off to check my school stuff again. The courses are supposed to start today, but there wasn't anything on the website yet, so I popped in here. Figured I'd wait until 8am and check again..

Morning!
Rainy and cool morning here. Entire weekend was like that. Couldn't get our dogwood bushes planted but did get my painting done. Laudry room is finished.

JO - thanks for the tip on NASCAR link. It worked well and DS was so happy to watch the race instead of just listening to it on the radio. :thumbsup2
You might want to look at going I-65 to Indy then I-70 through Ohio. A bit out of the way but much better than traveling 80 in my opinion. We took that way home from PA last year and it nice. My DH is an avid map user. He still won't ask for directions like all men:rolleyes:, but when he's lost he seems to have a map for just about anywhere. We still plan our routes the old fashion way so we're the only ones yelling when we make a wrong turn.

Kitty - So glad you found your earing. I know how precious some of our family treasues can be for us even if other members of the family are a bunch of :headache:. You just vent whenever you need to about family. We totally understand here. :grouphug:
As LITC said, you mean the world to us.

Have to share a cute story from this weekend.

Sunday afternoon the kids went outside to play with friends because the rain had stopped for a while. They got this idea that they wanted to make some money and "start a business" so one little girl brought over her Twist and Ride scooter and they were offering 10 pushes down our driveway for $3. They came in to get paper to make signs, DS8 came up with an advertising slogan and they were yelling to the few cars that came down our street for about an hour.
Getting frustrated that they weren't making any sales, DS12 desides to go to his room and grab some stuff to sell door to door. He must have smuggled it out because I didn't see him do it and neither did DH. I was checking on them periodically to make sure they were okay and then went back to painting. A little while later DS8 comes in and announces that they "made some money". I thought, gee, someone must have took them up on the scooter rides. Turns out they were selling their books/toys door to door and our neighbor lady bought some stuff from them.
At that moment I didn't know wether to laugh, congratulate them on their initiative or yell at them. So, I sat them down and had a long talk about how unsafe it is to sell stuff door to door and how they didn't get permission from us to sell our stuff. I told them I wasn't mad at them but more worried than anything.
Whatever happend to just simply selling lemonade???

Good morning ladies! And hugs to all of you....

Its bright and sunny here, its supposed to be near 70 which makes me think I should do some laundry before I leave tomorrow, but I'm still debating it. I do need some socks.

I'm checked in and all packed. But I did check the weather for Kansas and its supposed to be upper 80s so now I'm rethinking my clothing choices. But I'm also rather sneaky and think it may be a good excuse to do some shopping....

JO--you're so nice to think about not hitting DH too hard. He's very lucky to have such a considerate wifey.

LITC and lighttech--these stories of little guys with breathing problems is just heartbreaking to me! Hope you can find the right regiment so there's no upset tummies and easier breathing.

D---so how was your weekend "out of town"? Sounds like you had a lovely weekend anyway....

aww...D, your boys are quite the little entrepreneurs! They're certainly go-getters! If Trump ever does a young person Apprentice, I think we know who to get! and glad that they're safe. It is such a different world we live in...
