Its odd.

They have everything - and name brands, at that. And the perfume, and hair care items? Its weird.

Where are they getting their stuff, and why is it so cheap?

They had a giant pump sized Sebastian Potion 9. My hair loves this stuff. Ive been using it for over 10 years and my hair maintains it's healthiness because of it. Thing is - it's expensive. A little goes a long way BUT it's expensive!!! Like 20-something for a 6 oz tube.

Well, this huge pump is $31 at ULTA. It was $12.99 at Marshalls AND someone opened it up and it was kinda sloppy on the outside, so it was clearanced to $7. Seven bucks!

So, opened it up and looked. It looked the same. I sniffed it. It didnt smell old or funky - it smelled the same. Then I stuck my finger in it (since Ive been using this stuff so long) and rubbed it on my had...same texture, same everything. It was Potion 9.

Where are they getting this stuff?

I often wondered as well. We have Winners in Canada, and it is basically a TJMAXX, so I love it :thumbsup2

Clothing is mostly designer labels, and some (but very few) have defects. I think the majority are returns or old models...Fine with me :woohoo:

I once saw a dress in Macys and that same day I went to tjmax and the same exact dress was there at about half off what macys wanted.

So I guess they don't just get in last years clothes.

I bought DD a pair of Ralph Lauren jeans there that had this cute rainbow belt with it. Went to Marshall Fields a week later and there were the same jeans for twice the price. The ones I bought had no visible flaws.

A lot of merchandise is stuff from retailers that they are sending to a jobber who then sells it to TJMaxx/Marshalls. Like the fragrance sets that are available at Christmas you can usually find those in the Spring at places like TJMaxx/Marshalls. The retailer isn't going to keep the Christmas sets in stock much longer than New Years and unless they have it set up with the vendor to return it to them (aka RTV) they sell it to a jobber who then sells it on to TJMaxx/Marshalls.

A.J. Wright is an even cheaper version of T.J. Maxx (owned by the same company) - like they even need a cheaper version, with prices so great already. :rotfl:

I bought a pair of Lee jeans on sale at Kohls for $20 (down from $40.) They were the first pair of jeans that fit me to a T in so long that I nearly cried in the dressing room when I tried them on. I didn't realize not fitting into some 60+ pairs of jeans over the last couple of years and not looking great can really do a number on one's self esteem. :( I felt like I had an odd sized body or something. :upsidedow

Well I found the same pair of Lee jeans at A.J. Wright for only $10. :cool1:

Apparently, they get some of their stuff from stores who may be discontinuing a line of merchandise; Bath & Body Works quit carrying the Tutti Dolci line about a year ago or so, and around January, those items began appearing in TJ Maxx and Marshall's. I just wish they'd sent them something other than Creme Brulee-fragranced stuff.

Don't know....don't care! :rotfl: All I know is I just bought DD-17 two pair of Abercrombie & Fitch jeans there for $40 total!!! The same jeans are each $80+ in the regular store. :cool1:

son got his favorite pair of jeans, Diesel, normally over a hundred bucks there for 15.

I always wonder when I see haircare products that are not being discontinued in Kroger, Target, TJMaxx etc. The word diversion gets thrown around a lot in the industry yet, you see these products showing up everyday, everywhere! Normally Paul Mitchell products have a disclaimer on them about "guaranteed only when sold by a salon" or something like that. The bottles I have found out like that do not normally even say that! So what is the deal? TJMaxx's prices on this stuff is very good, a deal, but Target and Krogers aren't much of a deal. TJMaxx had a liter of L'Oreal's professional line Kiwi Shampoo for 9.99. A steal even when you have your license!

Just bought a Coach handbag at TJ Maxx the other day for $129.00. Was originally over $200.

H2O products at TJ MAXX the same kind they sell at Disney....for 6.00!:thumbsup2

I found H2O Mojito scented body souffle at TJ Maxx and LOVE IT!!! I bought all they had, so now I have to find a store that sells non-disocunted H2O products.

My DD14 is hooked on TJ Maxx and Marshalls for the purses....Dooney and Coach.

DD14 also got a pair of American Eagle jeans at a big discount at TJ Maxx...it was her second pair because we had bought the identical jeans at full price at AE about a month before.

I used to work at the corporate office of Burlington Coat Factory, which is basically the same thing as TJ Maxx/Ross/Marshalls and basically they would buy their stuff usually in NY and they would be buying their Summer stuff now after it had already been out on the market for 1/2 months. They would also buy odd lots, I was an allocator for boys merchandise and where a normal lot might be 6-12-6 (S-M-L) Burl Coat would get 2-5-10. That is why a lot of times you see something there and you might not see it again or you might see 20 in 1 size and nothing in another. These are a couple of reasons their stuff is pretty cheap. I am just assuming the others stores are similiar in how they work.

I have a new found love for Marshall's!

Yankee Candle had a scent back in 2002 called Pineapple Jasmine. I love it and ofcourse they discontinued it.

I was in Marshall's last week and found several large jars of it! I was in heaven!

I also saw the H20 products and wondered if it was the same stuff Disney uses.

I used to be a buyer for a large off price retailer, like TJ maxx. Alot of times, a department store, such as a macy's will cancel part of their shipments......they place their orders so far in advance and the manufacturer has to order the merchandise to fill their shipments very far in advance....so if, a retailer cancels a shipment or lowers their amounts.....the manufacturer will sell off the overages to other retailers or discounters or jobbers, etc. OR sometimes a garment may be slightly irregular (no holes, no rips, no tears, no broken zippers) but it may not pass quality contorl, so a manufacturer may sell it off to jobbers or other off price retailers. usually.....it should say somewhere, 'IR", but I know that alot of times, it does not, esp. if the IR is not visilbe to the human eye.
