Can we just buy one and mail it around to everyone else (especially us non-Floridians) when they go to DW? Or do they check IDs or something?

The person named on the TIW card needs to be a member of the dining party, and may be required to provide ID.
While technically not allowed my wife has used our TIW card on numerous occasions even though it has my name on it without me being present.

Hmmm...I haven't heard of that. Did you check the expiration printed on it?
I bought the TIW on 11/30/09 and it expires 12/31/10, so I got 13 months.
That's pretty normal. For whatever reason, they seem to give you a little more than 12 months, depending on when during the month you purchase it. I believe if its in the first couple weeks, then you get the rest of that month, plus 12. In the latter half of the month, you get the rest of the month plus 13. I used to think it had to do with how they processed the cards in groups, but now that they are printed on demand I'm not sure...
The TIW cards don't track your AP at all - you are just eligible to get one. You could get one on your last valid day of your AP, and it will still be good for 12+ months.
The price has gone up but there is a major change. We can now use the card on holidays. Several years ago, we were at Disney on New Years Eve and could not use the card. But this year, we used it at ESPN on New Years Eve and at California Grill on New Years Day. Even just for 2 of us, that is about half the price of the card.

I'm not sure that's right... I asked last time I bought about this and they said the TIW would be backdated to the start of the AP. This is what the CM told me.
