I hope it's ok to post this here:

1. I have a pre-purchased 6 day PH ticket from UT.
2. I go through the turnstile at EPCOT (my 1st park) and use my ticket.
3. I head to GS and upgrade my ticket to an AP (with DVC discount)
4. I can then buy a TIW card at GS

Is this correct?

Thanks!

Make sure you have your blue dvc membership card and government issued id with photo (showing same address as member) for all adults (ages 18+) that will be getting a DVC AP.

3 1/2. Double-check the math to make sure you're getting full credit for the current gate price of the 6-day MYW ticket on the upgrade. Know what you should expect to pay beforehand, so you can catch it if the cast member is doing the upgrade incorrectly. (It's not an everyday transaction for the cast members, and some have reported on the boards that they only got credit for the UT ticket price. If the cast member isn't issuing the intermediate ticket procedures, as described in CheshireFigment's ticket sticky on the Theme Park board, either insist they do so or leave and go to a different CM or location for your upgrade.)

Fair Warning...

I was told by a CM friend that the days of "bring it to gate" are going to be ending. No idea if she really knows etc.. but I do know that this has not ALWAYS been the system (I first upgraded from a ticket YEARS ago and there was no "bring it gate) I also can confirm that if you buy a DVC AP and then upgrade to the Premier (FL and CA) it is NOT bought to gate... they have a book with the "discount" price and that's ALL you get credit for :)

The DVC AP is not technically considered a discount, it's a class of ticket. So you'd never get credit for the cost of a regular AP when upgrading from a DVC AP. However, if you bought your AP before a price increase, and upgraded it after, you should get credit for the new price.

No, when you upgrade a DVC AP to the Premier they verify what YOU paid for that ticket and that's the credit you get. Period. No credit for price increases etc. (I think they even had to call on mine)

This happened to us! It was a $75.00 difference we had to get fixed. Also, when I got home I noticed on the AP the exp. date was off by two months earlier. I had to call and they said they fixed it and bring the AP to guest service when I next arrive to be reissued AP. So again, please double check all your documents.

How much do you save on an adult tix to pre-purchase park hoppers from UT then upgrade to AP's when you get there? Is it THAT much to be worth doing it that way??:confused3
How much does TIW cost these days??

I was going to buy my DVC annual pass and then buy TIW. Does that not work?

All of the various Annual Passes (Tourist, FL Resident & DVC Member) qualify you to purchse the TiW card for $75.

I can see something like this (published):

"Annual passes are not discounted. If you purchased a Magic Your Way ticket from an authorized reseller and wish to upgrade to an annual pass, please bring proof of purchase so that the proper price for the upgrade can be determined."

(A Disney Vacation Club AP is a separate "product" with its own regular price, not an ordinary AP sold at a discount.)

Well, as CF always says, a DVC AP isn't a *discount*, but rather a distinct sort of AP.

The adult 6-day hopper at UT is $24 off the gate price.

There is no change to the price bridging policy. And I have not heard of any planned change. The thing, unfortunately, is some people in ticket windows (and even Guest Relations) do not really understand ticketing; it is just a source of income for them.

There is no such thing as a "DVC Discount" related to any Annual Passes (No matter what Member Services says).

There are three separate categories (or price ranges) of Annual Passes. The lowest price range is for Florida Residents. There is a higher price range for DVC Members. And the highest price range is "Tourist", which is people who do not qualify for either of the other categories.

And of the 12 possible DVC Member AP types, only one is exactly a $100 difference. The price difference ranges between $35 and $125.

Regular and Premium Annual Passes have the same privileges, no matter which price range they are in.

But what does that save you if you're upgrading to an AP? Isn't that just the savings for the 6 day pass over buying it at the gate? If you upgrade to an AP isn't the DVC price still going to be $419 per adult? You'd still have to pay the difference, right?? Sorry, I don't follow what it saves to buy the hoppers from UT first.:confused3
