TIW discount question

We are headed to Disney in September and have decided to do the TIW instead of dining. It's my family of 5, our babysitter and my husbands best friend and his son for a total of 8 people. We are staying at All star Music and have a question about TIW. I have read that the discount is good for the card holder and up to 9 other people. How does it work for my husbands friend and his son since they will be paying for their own food costs---do I just show the card and say apply it to theirs as well? I understand that it should be pretty easy as far as table service meals where we will be sitting together and have one waiter but what about Quick Service meals (at the resort and AK) for instance, if my family and the babysitter go through and I use the card for us do I just have the friend and son come through right after us and have them apply it to theirs as well?? Thanks!! Amanda

The TIW card discount is only good for the meals the owner of the card is paying for. So your friends will not get the discount as they are on a different check.

Order and pay for all 8 meals at once, and then you can get the discount for everyone. The others will have to pay you back, though, as only the meals on your check can get the discount.

They cannot use your card. Only the cardholder can present the card.

The cardholder can present the card to get the discount, but then someone else can pay the bill (I've done this many times).

Thus, another alternative for the OP is to keep track of what the friends owe for each meal and then have the friends pay for a couple meals in an amount equal to what they owe.

This has been my experience as well - but it does need to be on one bill.

That is true, usually someone else can pay the bill, but all the meals still have to be on one bill, which won't help the OP. Some CMs may make exceptions to the no-split-bill rule, but that's the rule, and you'll never know if you get an exception until you are actually at the restaurant.
