The HD's are pretty easy to repair. It's worthwhile if you have lifetime service, but, otherwise, the box is pretty much worthless.my tivo HD is dying, only holds 20 hrs of programming. Anyone have one of the Roamio ones? they are on sale now but not sure I'm ready to pull the trigger. Been a tivo fan since '02
Weakknees repairs them, I had them fix my old Series 3 that had lifetime service.
I have a Elite XL, with lifetime. I am starting to question the lifetime service investment. I have a series 2 with lifetime (so it is not HD), that still works, but who wants it?
I also wish I could access on Demand from FIOS. But I love my Tivo anyway!
I just adore them, i haven't watched a commercial in 12 yrs! I can't stand the cable company DVR
this is me tooI bought my Series 3s with lifetime already on them, both used for around $240 each.
We have had them about 3 years now.
That breaks down to $6.66 per month but that also includes the machine.
I am satisfied with Series 3s and unless they break/die, I don't need anything more.
We have them hooked up to an antenna and only get OTA channels.
We had Directv but I found that 90% of the time I was watching channels and shows on Network TV and what I wanted most was the ability to pause live TV and record.
Our two Tivos have filled that need.
