Tired of Ebay, where else for kid's clothes?

So I'm tired of Ebay...not only the high starting prices, but the outrageous shipping charges. I sell occasionally so I know how much a size 5 dress costs to ship and it isn't $8.

But I do love getting my kids clothes for less than retail; used doesn't bother me since I wash everything before they wear it.

Where else can I buy kids clothes --new or used-- for low prices? Please don't say Goodwill or thrift shops, I live in a town of like 10,000 people and we don't have any! There is a Marshalls and an outlet mall 2 hours away, but even the Gymboree outlet is like $15 for a pair of sweatpants.

Maybe Craigslist. I have not tried it for clothes but they do have clothes.

I get alot at rummage sales but can only do that in the summer.

There are great clearance sales on right now. I just bought nice winter coats for $15. Some places I have found great deals are Target, JCPenney, Sears, Old Navy and Boston Store.

If only I had a Craiglist or Old Navy... Target is 2 hours away, as is JCPenny. So I'm kind of a fan of the mailman....

Check your county fairground or that of a neighboring city for resales. Our area hosts 3 or 4 groups there at a time. You might also have luck in finding out where there are kids sales by emailing or calling a local moms group. We have a triplets and twins club that also hosts a huge sale twice a year.

Check gottadeal dot com for additional sales...right now it tends to be winter clothes at seriously great prices. By shopping the online sales you can have it shipped straight to you!

I have bought and sold at mommyauctionsDOTcom -but not in a very long time . ..

do you belong to a church or parent's group?

A local church, in conjunction with the PTO, sponsors a kids clothing exchange that's held in the church basement.

You bring in your used clothing and sell it and other parents do too. Prices range from 50 cents to $3/piece for used and $5 for new.

Maybe you could set something similar up in your area.

I always have much better luck in places like Target, Walmart, Old Navy, Children's Place off the clearance rack. I am the queen of the $2 t-shirt and $7 jeans. You just have to buy a season ahead. The clothes are new too.

I have gotten good deals from Old Navy and The Children's Place clearance online. Since there are no stores close to you, it sounds like online is the way to go. Old Navy has $5 shipping.

There are all kinds of online consignment/thrift shops. google used children's clothes and you will find several.

Yep I agree with you. I always buy a season ahead. I have bought my DD coat for next year. From Hollister reg price $125 clearance price $30. I love it.
JCpenny has some great deals right now for kids clothes 75 percent off. I bought my DD 2 pair of pants and 2 shirts for $17.
I think Sears also has a good sale now. . I like Macys also for clearance clothes and a coupon.

You might want to join a kid's clothing board that has a buy/sell/trade area, like gymborebel.com, which is free to join and free to buy. There is also www.gymbofriends.com, but you have to pay a monthly fee to buy on that board.

I've found that you can get clothing very cheap from Children's Place, Old Navy, etc., with a 40% off coupon on clearance items.

great posts.... I always just watch the sales.. you can get great items on clearence (yes online) at Gymbroee, Childrens Place, Gap Kids, Etc... you just have to watch them and be ready to buy when you find... I have lost out on some great deals because I decided to "wait till tommorow" and then it was gone...

Just from another point of view....I sometimes sell things on ebay, I just sold 2 pairs of size 4T jeans and it cost $9.55 to ship them....shipping costs are so high :(

Me too! Macy's 50% off clearance & coupon was goldmine this year...I got dd76 outfits (levi's jeans, Bongo jeans, green day jeans, matching tops, 2 sweaters, and pair of sweats) for $75!! I can usually find deals like wherever I go..it's the only way to shop!

gymboree and old navy clearance online with a coupon code. Or Lands End Overstock/clearance/sale with free shipping code.

I wish I knew. I used to buy gymboree, my kids would wear it, then I'd sell it. Ebay has gotten to be too much of a hassle (for buying AND selling inexpensive items like kids' clothes) so now I have lovely rubbermaid boxes of outgrown gymbo stuff to sell, but not sure where!! (Only 1 consignment shop nearby, that rips sellers off really bad). I keep thinking I'll just donate it, but then I think of how much I THOUGHT I'd make selling it ... never would have bought most of it, without the resale possibility!

Also now have to buy my kids' clothes at clearance sales, etc. SIGH.

So, OP, while I have no advice for you, I can commiserate. Craigslist gets a look from me, now and again, but around here people don't want to buy their kids clothes on it, it seems like.
