I read SO many trip reports just about every day, and I'm even thinking about trying to do one myself when I get home from my July trip. I would really love some tips on how to write one, and what to do while at WDW to keep track of everything we do and everything that happens...Thanks!

I have written a trip report for every Disney experience since October, 1998. As many as six a year since then.

I have a laptop and I write on it whenever I can. But back in the resort room. I don't let the reports interfere with my fun time. Get a small notepad and a mechanical pencils. As things happen during the day, write them down. I usually will do that at a snack/drink break. Or while in line for an attraction. I use a pencil because then I can erase anything instead of crossing through it.

Ask your family for their opinions. Sometimes you'll get the funniest comments that way. Not on everything (my son said "mom, quit it already, I just want to have fun") but every once in a while. It usually helps if you aren't on the run somewhere.

Put the bad stuff in the report too. No trip is ever perfect. It helps others know that Disney World is fun but it's reality too.

But most of all - write the report for YOU and your family. And have fun doing it.

Just my own personal preferences, but what really makes another person's trip report enjoyable and useful for me are the following:

-Give the profiles of those traveling with you so I have a frame of reference for your opinions (i.e.-families with young children have a much different perspective than adults traveling alone)

-Provide information that would be relevant to others; skip that which would not be (i.e.-I do want to read about your restaurant experiences, but I don't care to read about the Pop-tarts you had for breakfast in your room)

-Provide descriptive detail but keep it brief (i.e.-I do want to read your impressions of the hotel room but I don't need a run down of every piece of furniture that was in it)

-Tell me WHY something was good/bad (I find reviews that merely state "it rocked" or "it sucked" to be useless; tell me how I can have the same good experience and how I can avoid the bad pitfalls).

-Share any helpful tips you figured out or tested along the way

-Share at least a synopsis of your experiences in all the main categories of concern to most WDW travelers: hotel, dining, transportation, attractions

Like I said, those are just my thoughts. Just share your experiences in whatever style you are comfortable with - I'm sure no matter what kind of review you do, everyone here will be very appreciative of your efforts!
