I have not been on the Western cruise but I have been to Cozumel proabaly 10 times and The Cayman Islands about 8 times. We can get great charter airfair prices from Texas to those locations.

In Grand Cayman, stingray city is a must do. It is really neat if you like to snorkel. I would not do this if you are nervous about sea life and are iffy about snorkeling. The sting rays really do swim all around you. Do not take a tour of the island. The Caymans are known for the beach. There is really nothing worthwhile to see. The turtle farm and hell are tacky tourist traps.

The best way to spend the day in Grand Caymans is to go to the beach. The beach at the Holiday inn is a great option. It is really easy to grab a cab and run down there. For great snorkeling besides Sting Ray City go to the Cemetary beach and just snorkel right off the beach. At this spot we have seen sting rays, sea turtles, squid and tons of fish. It is literaly behind a cemetary and once again all the the locals know where it is. There are not bathroom facilities here or chairs or anything it is just a beach. In addition, there is a little restaurant right by the cruise ship dock I think it is called Paradise, you can't miss it and you can grab a drink and snorkel right there.

Finally you may want to check out the pirate cruise. I don't know if it is one of the shore excursions, but it is a replica of a pirate ship and they sail out and let the kids walk the plant and swing off the masts into the water. My kids 8 & 9 loved this. It was a blast but I would not recommend it for litter ones as the swing a plant are pretty high. It is docked right where the cruise ships come in. I will put Cozumel on the next thread.

Thanks for the tips!

We are going to do the Atlantis submarine and view the sea life from it. Hubby doesn't swim. Hell really does look like a tourist trap. I think they are proud of that. DCL offers a tour that shows you the stingrays from a moored semi-submersible submarine and an overview of the city of Georgetown, Hell and the Turtle Farm. I swim, but I think I'd be afraid of the stringrays. I did the swim with the dolphin excursion in Nassau at the Blue Lagoon, but the dolphins don't scare me. Something about stingrays, though. So, I think we'll be doing two excursions on Grand Cayman or rent a Jeep and the Atlantis submarine.

There are lot's of off shore snorkeling hints and tips on this site that was posted last week.....

snorkeling maps and other great Cayman Info

There is also the Red Baron on that site, we sailed with them the last time we were in Cayman, they are a true class act!! We hooked up with a couple of friends (not hard to find on Disney Crouses :D ) and split costs. All 6 of us sailed to Sting Ray City and snorkeled. You should have seen how many people were on the other boats!!
