Tips on choosing dates when flexible?

We're going to go back this fall (even though we just took a trip in april) so that we can squeeze one more trip in before our son hits disney "adult" price age and before our youngest hits 3 years old. So the only date restriction I have it that our trip has to start before DD2's birthday the second week of november. My kids are homeschooled and my DH works for himself, so we honestly can go whenever. I'm not worried much about crowds but would love to see some Christmas decorations and maybe even catch the party (though we could catch the halloween party instead, as well).

I keep searching on disney's website to see when the cheaper prices are, but I'm not having a ton of luck finding something. Ideally our trip will be 9 or 10 days. Any ideas on when I should look that will have lower rates? I'm kicking around doing a split stay with a mod and a deluxe to save money as well. We're trying to get in the $3-5K range for room and park tickets combined. TIA!

Look at the dates the free dining promotion came out for.. even though you may not want that promotion that is a good indication of what dates disney isn't filling up for yet and a fall discount should come out for during the summer to add to your reservation and drop some money.

I personally like middle of october which should be just after a little rainy season with humidity and temp quickly dropping to spring like but not getting cold yet (80s day, 60-70s night). I would say try to do both halloween and christmas parties if you have 10ish days to be down there starting near the end of oct (you'll need to check party dates for when you need to arrive to get to both).

You could do late October to early November and possibly hit both the Halloween Party and the Christmas party.
