Hi all, off to Vero at the end of Feb and DS will be 2 months, DD is 2+ years.

Our outlook is pretty relaxed, we don't expect to do much but hang out on the beach and by the pool. DD is very active and the baby is still in the phase where he sleeps allot.

What do most people do on the beach with a baby that young? We don’t want him to hang out in the car seat the whole time. Thinking about bringing his chair but it wondering if it is worth lugging it on the plane.

Any other tips for first time Vero goers with small kids?

I'd just make sure to have some sort of sling/baby bjorn carrier since a stroller won't do well on the beach. One thing we did when the kids were preschool/todders was to bring a small inflatable kiddie pool to set up on the shore. It was great!

VB is a good resort for your situation. Everything (beach, pool, room) are a minute walk from each other. So you can break up the day with short stays. Maybe a couple hours on the beach in the morning or until is starts getting hot and then move up to the pool for a while. Get lunch at the poolside grille or go back to the room for lunch. Maybe take a nap and then go back down to the beach later in the afternoon. For your 2-YO they have a wet deck water play area with a pirate ship theme (by the pool). It has a little mini water slide and the cannons on the pirate ship squirt out water.

I would say bring DS's chair and buy your own beach umbrella to bring ($15). Take them to a ups store have have them shipped to the resort rather than dealing with them on the plane.

Have a great time :beach:

Ha! I have been there with my DD who is now 4. We took our carriage into the pool area and always got a table and seating towards the back side of the pool deck. Right next to the Tiger Lily kiddie pool area. We liked this are because A. It is out of the way. B. Quieter C. Lots of shade lots of palm Trees in the area.:cool1:

For the beach we did the Umbrella thing but they now have cabanna to rent... expensive but they do the trick.

Another good thing about the stroller is it is very peaceful to walk up and down the resort pushing the stroller.:thumbsup2

Don't worry about bring the stroller into the restaurants either. It is VERY laidback!:thumbsup2

You will love VB! It is Parents paradise!!!

Enjoy... maybe we will bump into you... we are there during Presidents Day week!

Vero is great vaca with little kids. We've been many times with kids aged from six months to five years. We were there in May 06 with my six month old DD and she hung out in the stroller by the pool as one other person said. Get a table in the back where there is a lot of tree shade. We would go to the beach early or late with my DD when it wasn't too hot. They have pool floats for free that you can put your infant in when you want to go into the pool.

I love Vero Beach. It's the best.

Thanks for this info. We will be at SSR late Sept. but I was thinking about adding a few days either before or after our WDW trip at Vero. My DDs will be 3, 2 & 1 at this time. Does anyone know how the weather is there late sept?

Thanks! :flower3:

Hit or miss - that's the peak of hurricane season. Supposedly, we are not projected to have a bad season on this coast in 2007, but it's always risky to do a beach in September.

That said, it should be hot if it's not stormy, and it's always cheap to travel to beaches in Sept!

My kids have been going to VB for years and like it as much as WDW...

Check the activities list when you check in to see if there are any activities for your DD... They usually have a toddler treasure hunt by the playground, bubbles on the boardwalk, Unbirthday parties, campfires, and etc..

You didn't say what type of room you were getting, but if you are staying in a 1BR or 2BR, I would try and get building 12 or 14.. Just my personal preference because they are closer to the pool or inn.. If you don't, it's no big deal... As others have said, everything is within walking distance.

MBHOXSIE I like Bld 15 for the opposite reasons you like Blg 12 and 14! :rotfl2: Too Funny!
