Tips for transferring from one resort to another?

I have transferred from one resort to another in the past, but it has been a few years so I wanted to see if things had changed. All we did was pack our belongings in our suitcases, leave them just inside the door in our room, then when we checked out early that morning we reminded the CM that we were moving. Later that day, seems like early afternoon we went to new resort and they already had our luggage and twice our room already assigned, once we had to wait. How much lag time should we anticipate between time we leave and when we can access our luggage at new resort (moving from AKL to Poly concierge) and when we can anticipate being in our rooms? Thanks!!

Sounds to be about the same as I have read on other threads. The only difference is most people seem to mention, calling bell services to get their luggage...
