Tips for Split Stay?

Every trip since '96 bar one has been split stays. We love them because we get to try more of the resorts. At this point, we've stayed at all of them we care to, many times. This trip though, a perfect storm of events has us spitting between FIVE resorts. Granted, we'll be there 2 weeks, but I've braced my family to chill w/ the commentary because none of them ever help to plan. Disney makes it easy to move from place to place as long as you don't need a "home" during the day while you are being moved. The only bummer for now during the pandemic is they won't move your refrigerated foods or groceries.

We also never unpack suitcases, so it's not a big deal.

It's fun. Have bell services move your luggage and forgettaboutit. ;)

Which five? That sounds like an adventure!

We've done a number of split stays. Our next will be 5 nights at BC followed by 4 nights at Poly starting on Jan 17. We have a car and plan to spend part of the transition day doing something outside of the DisneyWorld bubble. We will either going to the Book Tower Gardens or the Disney Nature Preserve than dinner at the California Grill.

Wanted to jump in on the ADR booking with split stays convo as I have a different experience.

Currently have a split stay booked end of Jan. 7 nights Pop and 2 nights Poly (a surprise for my niece who will be joining us). Since our 10 day ticket package is attached to the Pop reservation I was able to book ADRs for all 10 days at 60 days out.

Ive only done one split stay where I couldon’t book ADRs for our entire trip. We had people joining us for only the first half of our trip which complicated it. We couldn’t book our full ticket package for my DH and I since everyone else on our reservation was only staying for the first resort. It made us select the same ticket package length for everyone when we booked. DH and I were instructed by our TA to add days to our ticket after we arrived. Pre-pandemic of course.

Also a huge fan of split stays. Only way we can afford to dabble in the moderate/deluxe resorts. Another vote for packing cubes. Makes it so easy. 🙂

Start out at Copper Creek for a night, move to Riviera for 2 nights, then over to a 2 bedroom AKV for 7, off to BLT for 2 and finally PO-FQ for one, unless our waitlist for one more night at BLT comes through. We're getting too old for this, :teleport: At least the Riviera will be a new one for us this time.:) Funny thing is, that chunk at AKV was what our original trip started out to be. Just a week which is our shortest ever. Grew from 1 week to 2. How on earth did that happen?:rolleyes1

Our last trip (pre-covid) was a split stay and it was super simple. Call bell services on the morning you're checking out of Resort A, and they will have your luggage transferred to Resort B.

A little planning ahead goes a long way. Realize you will be without a room for a few hours on your resort change day and plan (and pack your park bag) appropriately. That day I made sure we all had a bathing suit and change of clothes in the park bag, just in case. Also, the one thing that made the split easier for my family was keeping our clothes for Resort A separate from the ones we'd need for Resort B. I used packing cubes to keep everything organized by family member, and when we moved from on from our first resort, I combined all the dirty clothes into their own suitcases and combined all of the clean clothes and other necessities we'd need at the second resort into a separate suitcase. Then when we arrived at the second resort, I just stashed the dirty clothes suitcases away in the closet and we didn't need to touch them again until departure day.

I agree with the idea of keeping the clothes you need for each portion of the split stay separated for ease of packing and unpacking.

Split stays are really pretty easy, whether on Disney property or between WDW and universal. Just pack your bags the night before, bring them down or call bell services to stash them for the day (or move them if you are moving on WDW property). It takes about an extra 15-20 minutes of time to deal with it all on property. Just go to the parks in the morning, and then take the bus to your new hotel in the evening.

Is there a certain time you need to have your luggage to bell services to have them transferred on your transfer day or just by check out time?

We just call them when we're ready to leave the room in the morning and they're always up really quickly. Don't call until you're ready because they'll be there fast and you don't want them waiting. Of course, you could bring them down to bell services too, but make it easier on yourself and let them move it.
