Hi there, my family is travelling to the house of the mouse in October and at the time i will be 7 months pregnant, can you give me some tips on staying comfortable? and anything else, like what you've ridden and not ridden?
I've been there many times, but never pregnant, thanks a bunch!

We're visiting in October, too - and my DW will be 7+ months pregnant! It really is a small world, after all...

When we visited in Dec. '02, my wife was about 4+ months pregnant with our first child. That trip was pretty normal, although she did get tired a little faster.

You should search the boards - I've read several threads that have discussed visiting when pregnant.

Since we'll have an active 2 year old with us, we're planning on taking this trip nice and slow - I don't even know if we'll try to ride anything that isn't available to all of us. One of the nice things about WDW with a pregnancy - it forces you to slow down the pace and enjoy the subtle and wonderful things that you normally wouldn't see.

I'll talk to DW and ask her opinion - good luck, and maybe we'll see you there!

DisneyMommyMichelle: I think the weather will be great in October-not too hot. I was 4 mo pregnant when I went in July and the heat was hard to deal with. My advice to stay comfortable would be: drink a lot (water) no matter what the temp is. Wear comfortable clothes. Snack a lot. This really helped keep my energy level up. Take frequent breaks. If possible, take an afternoon break. I loved those pregnant naps! Enjoy.

Thanks everyone so much! i am soo nervous but soo NOT willing to cancel my trip! it is our first trip taking our daughter who will be 9months at the time, so we firgure this will be our first time to explore everything we have never done before!

ahhh naps i can't wait! let me also say that it is my first pregnancy and that is why i am most nervous. We adopted our daughter and then found ourselves pregnant crazy huh?

Keep the tips coming!! princess:

I will be 17 weeks (with my 3rd...gulp!)when I go in October....I 'd love to hear about other Mom's experiences while pregnant at WDW. Like the OP, I have been to WDW many times as well...but never pregnant! Here's a Bump!

Hi DisneyMommyMichelle,

I've done Disney 3 times being atleast 7 months prego. Never had a bit of trouble. It was mostly in Sept. and once in Dec. Although I did get the flu on the Dec. trip and that was bad. I still went everyday to the park but I did resort to letting DH push me in a wheelchair a couple of the days.

I have pretty easy pregnancies though. As long as you do too, you will be fine. I have enjoyed my pregnant trips as much as the ones I haven't been. I ride everything but TOT, RNR, Space mountain , Extinction, etc. the thrill rides. Disney is the best park for a pregnant woman because it is so much more than a thrill park. I did Universal pregnant too and that made for a much more boring experience especially at IOA because pretty much everything was not good for a prego lady.

Enjoy!

Another thing that I found really helpful was one of those maternity belts for belly support. Took alot of strain off. I wore one the whole time on one visit.

Ohhh, and a great pair of shoes are a must! I LOVE and always buy Reebok's DMX MAX .........like walking on air. :cool1:

I was just going to post about this same thing. My wife just found out Friday afternoon that she is pregnant with our second child. We leave for Disney on 8-13. We are not going to cancel our trip but I am afraid that she is going to be real tired and not up to doing things on our vacation. She never experienced morning sickness the first time she was pregnant so I'm hoping that will be the same this time also, I'd hate to have to spend most of our vacation in the room because my wife is sick.

I was 6-1/2 months pregnant last August when we went and I had a great time. The hardest part was the car ride back home to NJ.

I didn't ride any of the rides with height requirements which wasn't a big deal since I had a 2 year old and 4 year old with me. I just played it safe. There is plenty to do without having to risk any problems.

We were in the parks from opening until closing. I drank a LOT of water and tried to elevate my legs when we sat down. I did experience some swelling in my ankles from all of the walking but it was worth it.

I brought a maternity belt but found it to be too hot in August to use it. I tried it the first day but it made me so hot and yucky feeling that I took it off.

Take it easy and listen to your body. Don't push yourself if you feel you shouldn't. Otherwise, just go and enjoy yourself!

Was just there in May 6 months pregnant. Here are my tips:

Talk to your OB before going. Get any pertinent medical records to bring with you. Don't forget to bring your OBs card (& pager number), just in case. Find out where the nearest medical facilities are (Celebration Hospital) and phone number, just in case. And don't forget those prenatal vitamins!!

Don't over-do it. Rest a lot. Stay hydrated. Avoid all restricted rides, they are clearly marked. Don't carry too much yourself. Let your DH handle the heavy loads, especially your older child. Don't forget to buy your personal water squirting fan before you get there. While October weather should be mild, it can still be hot as h**l!

Slowly build up your walking endurance. Be sure to wear the same shoes at the park as you do on your walks. Your feet, and the rest of your body, will thank you for it. For me that was my Nike cross trainers. Love those shoes.

Soak your feet in the tub at night. I added a foot soak in it. THAT worked miracles. And I normally walk 3.5 miles a day anyhow.

"Belly Bras" are supposed to be wonderful. I, personally, don't find them much of a difference to put up with the uncomfortableness of them. So many people swear by them though, I could just be weird. Besides, even if it doesn't help, it certainly won't hurt.

Make yourself famaliar with the locations of bathrooms, and go frequently. If you wait until the urge is strong, you'll encounter long lines, closed bathrooms, or far flung bathrooms.

Familiear yourself with restruants to avoid any diet restrictions or food aversions and satisfy any food cravings.

If at possible, stay on site. Preferably a hotel with exclusive bus service (AKL), a monorail hotel (CR, Poly, GF), or a resort with boat service (WL, WLV, Ft.Wilderness) just in case you need to get back quickly. Or drive/rent a car.

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. It makes such a huge difference. Especially the loose part.

That is all I can think of for now. If I remember anything else (that pregnant brain shrinking thing), I'll post it later.

I have travelled a ton when I was pregnant with my little guys both driving vacations and air. We have been on cruises, Caribbean, etc.
Walking is great when you are pregnant just remember to rest when you are tired. Bringing a water spray bottle to spray youself when you are hot is great, take a warm bath when you get back to your room, don't forget to eat and drink and don't be afraid of using a wheel chair if you are too tired. Try and avoid the sun, wear a hat.
Have fun! :flower:

Thank you so much everyone! i'm getting sooo excited even though it's still all the way in October! haha!! I have a huge problem with morning (all day sickness) but i am on a medication for that. My other question is that i have feet that get swollen and then shrink back...would sandals or gym shoes be better??
