I swear next time I'm just gonna let someone else pick out my critter. Not that I have bad luck but I swear everyone else does better than me.
And granted I know this is outdated but to the person who asked if it was a fluke that the pearl ring broke, pearl jewelry is never really billed as great for rough wear. From what I've seen, most settings at kiosks or Japan require the pearl to be just glued in/on. Not the most reliable method plus you get a lot of people who are so keen to wear it that the glue hasn't cured and just a little jostling weakens the bond. Some pearls are what's called "half drilled" which is exactly that, they're drilled part way through so that something can be inserted and glued into them which provides a stronger setting. I've seen some claw settings but not many...and then of course the cage settings. Glue set rings are just always going to be the...shall we say risky option because the glue doesn't have anything to really grab onto on the pearl and your hands knock against stuff so much.
Lastly, as a disclaimer here...I know some people will say they've had awesome luck with glue set rings they've had for years. I'm not saying all will break, just that they're the most likely to.
