Tips for Organizing a Value Resort Room

I don't believe any of them fit over the bathroom door properly -- ours didn't, but it will hang from the rod in the "closet" area. I am also trying something new this year: I'm taking four heavy-duty hook/magnets to see if they will hold it up on the door that connects to the next room.

Sweet! :cool1: Was it "floppy" without the door behind it for support? (like, was stuff falling over/out of the pouches?) Did it touch the ground? You used a regular over-the-door-shoe-holder, right? Like this one?

I've got to find a cheap-o one. We have a "fancy" one that I got off Amazon for the bathroom - it's got mesh type pockets and is strong fabric rather than vinyl in the back... I haven't seen one in a few trips to the Dollar Store, and the ones at Walmart are $10ish.

Well, I said it will fit over the rod -- but that's not where we hung ours. We went ahead and hung it over the bathroom door, even though we then could not close the door all the way. I wan't going to write that here, because I didn't want anyone to know what rednecks we are. But thanks for outing me!:rotfl2:

The one in your link is like ours -- we just got it at WalMart. They tend to carry a lot of them around this time of year (for back to school college students), then mark them down after school starts.

Thanks for the laugh (and info!!)

We just got back a couple of weeks ago, and I am here to tell you this was by far my worse orgnizeed trip. I just madw things so hectic!:scared1:. I pac Decos for thr 4th, they never got put up, I see like I ran out of time or I was to tired. The only thing I did was get out the 4th of July chacters and put them Into the window. Next Oct(2011) I am scheduling set up time. I will not get caught like that again.

I am looking for a post that I thought was in this thread. I can't find it and using the search tool just isn't working for me.

Maybe someone hear knows? Someone had brought some sort of box (maybe pop up) to use as a drawer in the new tv/dressers at POP. The poster even had pictures. It seemed like a great way to add storage and organization to that unit.

Sorry for posting here...

and TIA

GREAT post!!!!! Anyone have a packing list that includes all these things for the value resort guests organzing ideas???? THanks!

that post is in the everything POP thread in the resorts link. I saw it too and thought that it was a great ideas as well.

uh oh............

When I clicked on the organizer link, that was the same model we had---and we had to leave our bathroom door slightly open as well.

Another redneck value guest outed!

Thanks so much! I found it. I picked up some pop up boxes. I could not find the size that she listed as being the ones she used. I noticed from her pics that there was a gap from top her boxes..so hopefully mine will fit since they are 11 inches high and not 8 inches.

Posted this in another thread...I found several types of hanging organizers at Target in the Dollar Spot for $2.50. They are very lightweight also, so easy for packing. :thumbsup2

Right now with students ready to go off to college, Target has quite a few helpful things in their $1-3 section. They had some very light shoe and sweater organizers for $2.50.

thanks mnmhouston and melificent!! I'm actually heading to Target probably monday and I'll have to check it out! :)

No problem. I'm probably going to get a couple more. At that price could get 1 for each of the four of us and leave them behind if we don't feel ike bringing them home.

I was so psyched to find these 'cause everyone I was finding was pricey and heavy to pack.

For those who need an alternate way to hang the shoe organizers, the non-rednecks who want to close the bathroom door ;)....
We bring cable ties (purchased from the dollar store) and hang the shoe organizers against the wall on the wire shelving, flush beside the mirror. Just loop the cable tie through the holes on the organizers and then around the wire of the shelving TA DAA! Keeps things close AND doesn't interfere with the bathroom door!

You can purchase over the door hooks (similiar to over the door wreath hangers) at the dollar store. You can hang your shoe organizer on the hook and still close the door

Do you lose closet space doing this?

If you think you will be short of drawer space, you could bring a sweater type shelf unit that hangs in the closet. You could put clothes, toys, cell phones or other misc. items there.

That is a fabulous idea! And it would easily fold up into your suitcase :thumbsup2 I am going to remember this for our october trip!
