Tips for Organizing a Value Resort Room

For those who need an alternate way to hang the shoe organizers, the non-rednecks who want to close the bathroom door ;)....
We bring cable ties (purchased from the dollar store) and hang the shoe organizers against the wall on the wire shelving, flush beside the mirror. Just loop the cable tie through the holes on the organizers and then around the wire of the shelving TA DAA! Keeps things close AND doesn't interfere with the bathroom door!

That's a great idea.
I always carry ties with me anyway to "lock" my suitcases for the flight. (Just remember to pack small nail scissors in an outside pocket to cut them off when you get to the hotel)

Do you lose closet space doing this?

Simple answer is no, here's how (this is where things get confusing):

Before hanging our clothing I place the shoe organizer flush against the wall, beside the mirror, so it is hanging in the same direction a shirt would. Then attach the ties through the loops on the organizer and around the wire of the shelving. I hang our clothing in front of it. Does that make sense? I can see it in my head but I think my explanation is lacking. I wish I took pictures.

I think I got it! At first I was visualizing hanging the organizer along the shelf parallel to the hanging bar, which was why I was wondering how that was helpful because I need all that closet space! But your description was great! That is a GREAT idea! I know I have some extra cable ties around here somewhere...

Does anyone know if I bring down an over-the-door-pouch with hooks on the top of it, if it will hang in the closet properly? We are staying at All Star Movies. . . thanks!!

We stayed at ASMo in February and my over the door organizer fit on the door so I didnt need to use the closet!

Then attach the ties through the loops on the organizer and around the wire of the shelving. They offer many of the same amenities as the more expensive hotels, like free bus service and extra hours at the theme parks, but their room prices are cheaper.

HUH:confused3?

I must be the only one who doesnt have a ton of toiletries for everyone. We use samples (I request them like 2m b4 we leave) or the Disney stuff. I have a small bag that I put all our stuff back in (minus bar soap) after we are done that day.

We also pack a drawstring laundry bag (army issued) in one bag and put dirty clothes in there.

For the kids clothes we pack them in gallon ziplock bags and squeeze the air out. They fit better in the drawer that way and they are already organized. For DH & I we just pack normal. We were able to put all 4 peoples clothing in the drawers at the ASSp for a week long stay last year (though I am spoiled though w/ the SOG's wonderful dresser size and may have problems adjusting this trip even for 5nights).

If your suitcases are able to be put inside each other then do that then stack them ontop of the shelf.

As far as keys, wallets, cameras, etc...every time we returned to the room if it was for more than a few min we put them in the safe. The lanyards we put into our park bag.

For food we did like a PP and put it on the shelves. This time though we arent taking near as much, and are staying at Pop and I've heard almost all are refurbed now...so i'm not sure what we are going to do till we get there.

As far as extra space (after the drawers and closet) if you need it use your suitcase and bring some of that Downy wrinkle releaser. It does work (another free sample I got). If you brought a ton of extra stuff you either would have a lot of stuff to pack into your car or spend a lot on baggage fees.

So there aren't privacy curtains or blocked out light curtains at POP? Just the sheer looking white curtains, that don't stay shut? LOL

From the pictures from another site I've seen they have regular curtains

Bring a ton of extra hangers. Hanging your clothes is MUST in a Value Resort. There is very little drawer space. I use the drawers for underwear, socks, bathing suits, and extras. Good luck!

Could you not just ask the mousekeepers for more? I would never have thought of brining hangers.
