Tips for Organizing a Value Resort Room

dont forget to pack a large binder clip to clip the window curtains closed at night.. they don't stay closed all the way and that way people can't peek in on you nor can the sunlight sneak in and wake you up

That's a good one! I definitely need to add that to the list. The whole idea of people being able to view into the room is a little icky...

Last time, I brought a pkg. of plastic clothes pins (dollar store) that were helpful- hanging bathing suits, keeping curtains closed, etc. I'm also going to bring some magnets this time. I hear the doors are metal and I think it'll be convenient to keep my itinerary, adr schedule, etc. posted on the door, where I can FIND it every day!

The picture posted a little earlier showed a tube type TV with the older and larger storage unit. We just got back a few days ago and the refurbed rooms has a flat screen TV bolted to the top of a unit that is much lower and smaller than before.

We used the shoe organizer trick and also bought an organizer from Target that you hang in the "closet". It was about 18 inches wide and had about 4-6 "shelves". It gave us a lot of extra usable storage space. We had 2 adults and 2 teens in the room.

We definitely appreciated the recently installed privacy curtain between the sink and the sleeping area.

I have seen the smaller dressers-- it look to have only 3 drawers. I can not imagine whole families packed intothis type of space with only 3 drawers

I just got back from pop and our room didn't include a privacy curtain btwn sink and beds? our curtains stayed together on the window pretty well so no peeking, LOL. and no motion activated a/c either,, just temped

Sounds like you might have been in a room that has not been refurbed yet. Hopefully someone can chime in and tell us what fraction of the place has been completed so far.

Our room had window curtains mounted with with overlapping tracks so we did not have to use the clip method to ensure our privacy.

Were you at Pop? My stay is at ASSp. I don't think they got a privacy curtain with their most recent refurb. Anyone?

leebee: Those are great ideas! I think I have some clothes pins lying around here. ALSO, I love the idea of using the metal door!

Someone recommended bringing a tension rod and curtain to use in the doorway between the bedroom and the vanity area. I'm usually only there for a weekend, so it's not that big of a deal, but I might consider it for a week-long stay.

How wide is the door way for the vanity area? What size tension rod would I need to get?

I pack a new bottle of pump hand soap for the sink & leave it there when we check out. It is totally worth a $1.00 to not have a goopy sink!!

I love this idea!:thumbsup2 DH and I both wear contacts and the regular soap is usually irritating to use.

We have stayed at all star resorts at least 5 times. We always fly. We generally go with just hand luggage so we try and travel light.

Last time I took a peel and stick white board sheet. These are easily removable and don't leave a mark. BUT I love the magnet idea.

I think the hanging shelf idea is genius!!!! It goes under my why didn't I think of that list!

Power bar- a must. Especially with 2 teens and all we have to plug in.

As I said we travel with only hand luggage so I try and travel with 3 outfits each and do laundry there. So I pack in large ziploc bags. I use the non leaking freezer version and then fill them with ice if I take drinks to to the park.

I also bring a small soft side cooler to bring to the parks to keep our drinks cold but you can also just put them in the ziploc bags.

We always use the ironing board to set my suitcase on - I dont mind living out of it at all. Pop up hampers are a must for us!! A power strip is awesome too! Lots of things to plug in and charge these days!! lol

If you have smaller children, you may want to bring each one packed in a laundry basket since you are driving. Empty their clothes and then let them use the laundry basket for their trinkets and toys they will collect over your stay. That way they can always find them and you dont have to spend time looking for them or comforting when things cant be found!!!

Have a BLAST!!!! Also, if its easy, bring along a few water noodles for the pools!!!!

You know...I've been seriously thinking about packing all of us in laundry baskets. I'm thinking about "packing" hanging shirts and just folding them into the baskets and putting other folded clothes in them. I just have to see how they will fit in the car, but it seems like a no brainer, and super easy to do. And the baskets will be handy.

Noodles are a definite. We'll be bringing pool toys for sure.
