Any tips on how to get a home away from home resort for December 3-10? I really would prefer to have a washer/dryer since I am traveling with a baby. Thanks

yes this is what you want. First week in Dec. is going to be really hard at this point, but go to the dvc rental board and see if someone has some points to rent. There may be someone who is going to have points expire if they aren't used, you could get lucky. I think you can also rent them for money like the other resorts if available, just like renting another resort.

You need to know that only the one and two bedrooms have a washer and drier. The studios don't, but they have a laundry room that is free. Also each room of every type has a pack and play. Pack your own sheet from home.

There should be no problem at all getting a HAFH resort for Dec 3-10 if you are talking about 2004. If you want to stay at a DVC resort during the first week of December, you had better get it early. That is a prime time for DVC members because points are low and the annual member meetings are held during that time frame. At this late date, you can forget about it. You should have thought about this at least 7 months ago.

Just because someone has points available, does not mean that there are any available rooms. You would have to get someone else's reservation that they are unable to use. I see lots of reservations for sale right around Christmas, but not the week you want.

Yeah, Deb, I was thinking that there possibility might be that someone is within the 30 day window and needs to cancel and will loose it. They'd have to get lucky to find it.

The Dolphin has a washer/dryer in its basement. We took a baby this summer, and actually never used the laundry facilities. Remember, babies have little clothes. You can pack a lot of them in a small amount of space.

If you can't get a HAFH, the resorts all have laundry rooms.

They can get busy, especially towards the end of the week. During our stay in Sept, I woke up early & did a load around 6am. When I was done, (little befoe 8) the room was "hopping".

If you're looking to rent DVC points your best chance would be if someone has a ressie they won't be able to use! (We were on a waitlist for early December for months and just recently got our last night.) Be sure to check out the DVC rent/trade board!
Good luck!

Have you tried calling CRO?

They may have something even if all the resorts are full with people using their pts?

They may have had someone cancel.

Let us know what you find out.

There are lots of rental homes available both east and west of I-4 nearby to WDW.

Here is a web site that might help you:
http://www.floridacentralvacations.com/search.asp

The Central Florida Property Managers' Association is a group of home property managers that tries to maintain certain standards that would be favorable for renters.

It would not be onsite but very close. Various amennities can be chosen. I would think that you could find a rental for the time frame that you wish.

Good luck.

We stayed at old key west just by calling Disney. Theres no real trick, they rent out rooms for cash just like all the other resorts.
