I am taking my family for the first time to SSW and we are looking for all advice. My son will trun 8 6/15 and he can't wait. my girls 6 and 4 love cloan wars as well.

Get to DHS before rope drop. Have your video camera out for the StormTroopers on the entry gate. So far no announcements about celebs that I want to get an autograph "fastpass" for (which will probably be over by Indiana Jones), so we're going to do the "rush to Toy Story Mania for FPs" instead. When we went before, the "good guys" characters were mostly over near the Star Tours area, villains over more by the animation studio area. There will be lots of characters for photos. Have the kids wear bright shirts and be outgoing and active if they want to try to do the Jedi Training Academy -- and get there early. If you want to get lots of characters and autographs, don't plan on doing too many attractions the day you go. Not all the characters will have PhotoPass photogs (some will), so keep your camera ready (and it's worth getting PhotoPass if you like to do that, we do, but we also take our own photos. Have fun! (We'll be there that weekend also, on Sunday).

I went to Star Wars Weekends last year. The majority of the people flock there to get autographs from the stars. Some of those I spoke to got there 2 hours before the park opened. So if you want an autograph - good luck.
If thats not an interest try going in a bit later, at least 1/2 hour after opening to get away from the rush. For the kids - awesome photo opportunities with characters. Ask for a times guide to show you where each character is and when they appear. Also Jedi Traning is really cool - don't miss it!
-Enjoy it!
