we will be going in the beginning of Dec. I have never been to WDW in Dec. and just don't know what to pack and the weather. Any tips..............

Hi,

Winter weather in Orlando is completely unpredictable. You could have warm days (80s) with chilly mornings, or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoons in the 40s or low 50s. Or you could have a little of both. Or you could have something in between!

My best advice is to pack a little of everything...

I recommend keeping an eye on the daily temp throughout the last half of Nov and beginning of December. One yr we were at WDW and it was in the high 50s, low 60s, but the wind was chilly. There were no gloves or hats anywhere, sold out! I bought a pair of MM gloves that were big and you could't do anything with them on, but they were warm. Now my DD who is 17 months walks around with them on doing her version of "Patty Cake".

We were just there in Dec 2007 and it was very warm. Shorts most of the time, but we wore jeans and sweatshirts in the evening when it cooled. So pack for both. Bring a couple of pairs pants and sweatshirts...or you can always pick up a nice souvenier (sp?) at the parks to wear home!

We are going back this year and can't wait!

Think of it like Wisconsin - unpredictable. We have been to WDW several times in December. Generally it is warm during the day, cool at night. It may be warm enough for shorts so you should take warm (not hot) weather clothes. You should also be ready for cooler weather with a sweatshirt or light jacket at night. At least it is the time of year with the least amount of rain there.

One word, layers.

As others have posted, the weather in December is extremely variable. We've gone in December just about every year for the last 15. We have pictures from one December visit where we are wearing shorts and a t-shirt on one day, and everything we brought with us only a couple of days later.

For December, we pack golf shirts, sweatshirts and a wind-breaker. Some combination (or all) of those gives us the right level of comfort in just about anything we are likely to encounter at WDW in December.

Every time we go in December I pack for winter AND summer...and I end up wearing pretty much all of it by the end of the trip! :rotfl: Our last Christmas trip started out really nice and warm and balmy-shorts, t-shirts, swimsuits...then within 4 days-cold and windy and rainy-jeans, sweaters, raincoats, mittens....Layers-sometimes the day starts out pretty cold-but then by noon and the sun comes out and you start to get pretty warm.

Must pack for me for Dec. are those little "magic" gloves-you know the little knit gloves that shrink to a small size? On cold days they can help a lot and if they aren't needed they don't take up a lot of space in a coat pocket or in my bag.

Thanks for the tip about the little glove I've added them to my list. (I know I'm starting early)

Never too early to plan for an upcoming trip-that's half the fun!
