Tips for a holiday in Vancouver?

Great ideas! We plan to book the ferry in advance (we've been to the Isle of Wight here so we know all abouot long waits in the summer!) but so far the schedules only go to June.

Love the idea of a carriage ride round the park - was it expensive?

The Missus and I spent a wonderful week in Vancouver in 1995.

We stayed in the west end at a Hotel called The Buchan (http://www.buchanhotel.com/), which is only a few minutes walk from Stanley Park and Denman street where all of the restaraunts are.

You'll love Vancouver... it is a beautiful city. In addition to Gastown and Canada place, make sure that you get to Granville Island (and the beer IS very good at the brewery ;) ).

Susan and I were big fans of the X-Files at the time, so it was great seeing so many street places where scenes from the show were filmed.

The food is great, the people were friendly.

We spent an additional day/night in Victoria, which was great fun, before taking the ferry to Seattle for a second week of holiday there.

I think you'll ave a great time!

I flew Zoom last August from Belfast - Halifax. I booked my flight in about eight weeks prior and my flight departure time *did* change. Zoom had sent me an email about it and you have to go to their website to confirm that you received the notification.

There was a meal, and there is in-flight entertainment. However, I don't really remember what was on as I spent most of my flight either sleeping (three cheers for pulling an over-nighter in the Glasgow Airport the night before 0_0 ) and reading Harry Potter :)

I have lots of friends who have flown Zoom with no problems though!

I realise this is a kind of old thread, but anyone thinking of visiting Canada from the UK (or vice-versa!) may also want to look at Canadian Affair! I can't post the link since apparently I don't have enough posts, but just type it in google and it'll be the first search result!

I flew from Halifax, NS to Gatwick for about $150CAD in May 2004! (About 160 pounds, given the crap exchange rate at the time.)

I can't wait! I might have to look for a suitable count-down for my signature (I miss the old ones :sad2: )
