Tips at Character Meals

Are tips included in the price of the Character Meals?

Yes - the tips (15%) are included at most of the character meals. Basically, all the meals where everyone will pay the same price (one flat rate for all adults and one flat rate for all kids) will include the tip in the total that you pay up front (you pay before being seated at these places). So this includes Goofy's Kitchen, Minnie & Friends and, I think, Ariel's Grotto as well. I would imagine that since the new Surf's Up with Mickey meal is all buffet and therefore, one flat price, they will likely add the tip on there as well.

The exception is the Critter Breakfast at Storyteller's Cafe, where you have the option of a small buffet or ordering off the menu (the average menu meal at breakfast is only about $5 cheaper than the buffet). Because they don't know what the guests will want when they seat you, you do not pay up front and there is no tip added to the bill. You add it in yourself.

The tip was included in our recent visit to Goofy's Kitchen. I can't remember how much it was, but it was listed right on the receipt, so we knew before paying.

I don't think you need to tip as much at a buffet as you are doing the work. However there should be something for the buffet workers, water bringers, and busboys. they usually all split the tip.

I just made a PS for Ariel's Grotto and the CM confirmed that tax and gratuity are included in the price.

As stated in my above post, the tip is 15% at Goofy's and all the other places where it is added automatically.:goodvibes

Cool!:thumbsup2 Thanks for confirming that!:goodvibes I thought Ariel's was one of the places that included the tip like the other ones, but I didn't know if they did that all day long, for all the meals, or just for breakfast or whatever. Good to know!

Tip is included at Ariel's like PP poster stated, but you do pay after you dine. We ordered cocktails that were not included in the set
price. HTH

I thought I read somewhere that there's not a tip figured in at Minnie's because no one serves you - it's all self-serve, including drinks. ???

I dont know how the meal is, but I did ask when making ressies for Minnie and Friends if there was a gratuity added to the price, and they said no, but they couldve misunderstood me.

I was pricing out the vouchers and wanted to see how much money I would be saving, and it came out to the same, so Ill skip on the vouchers. Maybe they save money when there really is gratuity included or during high season when the prices are higher.

I could definitely be wrong, but I was pretty sure that some of our Minnie & Friends 'regulars' (Pixiewings71, DisneyMomma81, Prettyprincessbelle - where are you guys when we need you??:goodvibes) had confirmed a while back that there is, indeed, a gratuity added to the M&F bill. Even if no servers come around, they may justify a tip added on (if there is one) simply because the characters come around to the tables.

Well, someone will catch this thread soon and solve the mystery, but I could almost bet that at least one of our DIS-ers had stated that M&F, indeed, has gratuity added in. We shall see. Heck, if they have all those characters and NO tip added in at all, in contrast to the other meals, that would be fantastic!

I'm here! Yes at Minnie's I'm quite sure the tip is added in when you pay prior to being seated, at least I've never left extra $$ on the table so I'm thinking it's paid all at once ~ meal/tax/gratuity.

While I am not one of the regulars at Minnie's I am apparently the one who's keeping her receipt longest. ;)

There is indeed gratituity added on, I just checked. If I get my scanner to cooperate I'll post a picture.
