Hi all
Joined the forum today to try and get some advice and tips. We booked our holiday over a year ago and are heading off to WDW in about 6 weeks time and have planned alot and read reviews and books. But now with only 6 weeks left Im a bit confused, overwhelmed and, reading other posts and sites, a bit worried. When we booked the holiday I didnt realise the extent to the development at WDW. MK hub looks unphotogenic, Downtown has boards everywhere, HS is closing sections left right and centre and AK has a big part shut now for Avatar (which we knew about already)
I know it all has to be done but to do it all at the same time seems unhelpful for those who are going at the moment. Its not as if prices have been reduced, they are still on the up.
Anyway thats my whinge over, hope your still reading as I need some tips and advice from anyone who has been at this time of year in the past.
We have booked our party tickets, candlelight processional dinning, a couple of character breakfasts and paid extra for memory maker.
We are hoping to do plenty of rides as well as meet and greets but what do people suggest in regards to the best things to see and do during the holiday season at WDW.
Sorry if post was a bit long :)

Hi,

I agree that there does seem to be a lot of construction at the moment but when we went last year the the 7 dwarfs mine train was still behind walls and Downtown Disney was behind walls to. Anytime you go there is always going to be some sort of upgrade.

Basically there is so much to do across the parks and water parks you will still probably not get it all done, especially if you are doing universal as well.

I will be at WDW in about 6 weeks time as well :goodvibes: A few of my holiday favorites are:

1. MVMCP - sounds like you already have tickets for this
2. Osborne Family Spectacle of Lights in HS. This is 'free' with your regular park admission. It is really beautiful, and there is snow.
3. Gingerbread House at the Grand Floridian. Life size and really cool.

I'm sure others will have differing recommendations. Try not to worry too much about the construction. I was there in September with my mom, and I barely noticed all the walls. There are better things to look at :)

Thanks for replies so far. Can't wait for the party. We have tickets for the 9th and it's going to be amazing I'm sure.

Any day you are at the MK, hop on the monorail and visit GF to see their Gingerbread House. Their QS restaurant is really good too. Same for Epcot. Head out the rear entrance ( International Gateway) and check out the Christmas decorations at the Boardwalk and Beach Club. Even better, do this in the evening when the entertainets are performing. AKl and of course WL are beautifully decorated for the holidays but the ones mentioned are very easy to get to from a park. We LOVE candlelight prossesional and the holiday storytellers at Epcot as well as Osbourne Lights. Have a great trip !

I wouldn't be too worried about it. Of all the places you mentioned, only Downtown Disney is under so much construction that it detracts from the experience.

Even then, most of the major restaurants and entertainment are still open... but the atmosphere definitely feels like a construction site.

Other than that, WDW is constantly in the process of being upgraded and it's not bad at all. You'll have a great time!
