How much do you tip Mousekeeping, and when do you do it? Daily? End of Stay?

Trying to figure out what is standard.
Thanks!

Somewhere between $2.00 - $5.00 daily seems to be what most people leave. It depends on how many people are in your room and what condition you leave it in. You should tip daily since you may not have the same mousekeeper every day. It would be a shame if someone did a great job all week and missed the tip on the last day because they had the day off. What we do is put the money in an envelope clearly marked housekeeping (or mousekeeping if you prefer). We leave it in the bathroom where it is clearly visible and won't be missed.

$1-2 per person is what most people tip. Tip daily so most likely the person that cleaned your room gets the tip.

we are a family of 4- 2 adults and a 4 and 6 yo. We stayed at POR in early May. We were so busy running around that we left the room pretty messy. Mousekeeping was very good about picking up behind us. They also did really cool things we the kids toys. One day we came back and mousekeeping had made a scene in the window of all the animals facing out-really cute. Also had lots of towel fans etc. We tipped her $60 for 7 nights. Was that too much?

I go solo, and tip $2 a day. I never leave my personal stuff out, and the room is pretty neat. Also, I only use one wastebasket, it's just a me thing.

We tipped $5.00 per day-2 adults,, 2kids 4 and 18 mos. we were a little messy. She did a great job at WL. No towel animals, but we appreciated the attention to the room. She would often be in the hall and would be playful with our youngest daughter( who was really drawn towards her). Each time we saw her she expressed great thanks for her tip. I think they are really appreciated. We left it on the pillow each day. Service was excellent.

I tipped $4/day at CBR this April, having 2 teenage boys and an 11yo with me... needless to say, not ALL of us kept our stuff put away in the mornings when we left...!

Mousekeeping was great, and always had towel animals for us -- in fact one day we returned to find my son's Lego creations arranged WITH the towel animals on the air conditioning unit looking out our window at us!!

I think it probably just depends who you get, but everyone who did our room at CBR was wonderful!

We tip $5/day, but have never received towel animals or special scenes.

We tip $1 per person/per day. And you should always do it daily, because the same Mousekeeper may not be in your room everyday. My DS and I always make up little Mousekeeping envelopes to put the tip in everyday. It is a fun project for him in anticipation of our upcoming trip. We just use normal envelopes and put "Thank you Mousekeeping" on the front. We use Mickey head punches (for scrapbooking) and various Disney themed stickers. Plus that way all I have to do is pull an envelope a day out and place it on the counter.

Can someone post the link to the Mousekeeper envelope templates? I thought I had this on my settings, but don't. Thanks!

WoW ! That was a great tip! I bet your mouse-keeper was thrilled! :earseek:

Were you by any chance in AB bldg 35? Our mousekeeper also did our sink area with towel fans and made sure we had plenty of extra towels, shampoo and soaps. It was just my DH and I for 10 nights and yet we still received 3 towel animals during our stay. She decorated them with little sticker eyes, really cute. I had made up Disney Mousekeeping envelopes for every day and placed $3 in each of them. She told us one day that she was going to be off the next 2 days and I had left her $6 that day. The person that took over on her days off did not do nearly a good job on our room. Only gave us 3 towels a day!!?? Made it kind of difficult for swimming needs. Did not do anything special but we still tipped him the $3/day. We could tell when our mousekeeper returned :) and at the end of our stay we left her $8, making our total tips at $38. I feel that was a fair amount.
I filled all the envelopes ahead of time that way it was out of the way and when we arrived I kept them in the safe in our room. I had a different Disney character on each of them with a different note on each. It worked out nice and I'm sure our mouse-keeper enjoyed them. Probably why we got 3 towel animals ;)

I tip $0 every day, and there are 4 of us (well, 5 this year). We don't trash the room, so standard refilling of towels and changing sheets is all that really needs to be done.

I have already paid for the room, which includes housekeeping, so I don't feel the need to pay more, especially since I'm already spending a lot down there.

Bring on the criticism.

I've actually heard a lot of people say that they do not tip Mousekeeping. We just choose to when we have good service, because I'm sure that they do not make a whole lot of money! Plus...it usually brings us extra special pixie dust which we enjoy!

No criticism from me... I think we'll all agree it's a choice. I just like doing it... my kids learn a way of showing appreciation to others, and my guess is the Mousekeepers appreciate it too... Like some of the others who have posted, I get a real kick out of my DS's wanting to help me write the notes we leave with the tip... it's just our way of showing appreciation. Others have different ways.

I choose to tip on my last day, that way I can decide what to leave based on the level of service I've received. Everyone who leaves a daily tip says they want to make sure the one cleaning the room gets it, but you are leaving the tip before the room is even cleaned. So you are not rewarding a job well done (from the number of people who equate tips and towel animals, it seems the tips are more like bribes for the goodies).

Bottom line is there is no right or wrong when it comes to tipping housekeeping in any hotel.

I am leaving the tip for the service that was provided the day before. I tip in every hotel I stay in along with a little note. I have received some wonderful heartfelt notes in return. It's nice to bring a little sunshine into someones life every day.
