Hi. I know that in florida you have to tip waitresses about 15% of your bill.
I know this is a daft question but do I pay my bill then tip the waitress as I leave or leave my tip on the table or tip her at the same time as paying my bill.
Sorry if it sounds a daft question but I do not want to be put on the spot when on hols with family.
Cheers.

Hi Ya,
Just work out your tip+leave it on the table,he or she will take what is there's and the rest goes in the till.x.

We usually leave the tip on the table after paying the meal. From reading the US forums the current expected tip range for good service is 18% - 20%. I hate the whole tipping culture too, I don't want to be seen as the tight British person and I am always worried I forget to tip someone who according to UA customs should be tipped!

No origionally the dining plan did include tips, but it no longer does. However they do usefully suggest what the 18% tip should be when you get the bill.

I'm pleased you added the word 'good' there.
American friends of mine agree that they would only leave 20% for exceptional service.
The whole thing about us 'tight' Brits not leaving big enough tips is a myth in my opinion. The first couple of times we went we were leaving up to 25% sometimes as that was how we were advised on 'other' forums.
Having spoken with plenty of our American cousins since I have learnt my lesson :thumbsup2
