Tipping Style

Depends how much I had to drink .. if I had a few I know I can't add very well so I just take the total, divide by ten and double... try to add that to the total and round up to the closest I can figure out

if the bill was $48.34 I would think in my head, maybe out loud... $4.83 is close to $5.00 and twice that is $10 so I would either leave $60 cash or $58.34 if it's going on the debit card. I wouldn't bother to wait for change if we are paying with cash

without any drinks before hand it would probably go more like ... $4.83 x2 = $9.66 tip and total left on card would be $58.00

Odd man (woman) out here.... I prefer uneven amounts in my check register. I hate looking at my balance & seeing, $20, $20, $20, $20, $20..wait where was that $20 from? Did I MAC that?

I even stop the gas pump on odd numbers - $28.39. That way, at a glance - I know 99% of the nice even numbers, were ATM withdrawls.

Most of the customer I have waited will leave a flat amount. Once in a while I will get one, that will round it up

I always pay an even amount no matter what.... BUT I tip to the extreme though. I have been told I shouldn't but I do and like seeing peoples faces when I do

I tip an exact percentage (18-20), so 99% of the time, its an odd amount.

of course for bad service, I'll tip less than 18, but its VERY rare that I'll ever tip less than 15. It would have to be extremely terrible service.

Depends if I'm paying cash or using a credit card. Mostlly, I use credit, so I voted that I tip an even amount to end up with an odd bill. Like if the bill is $24.67, I'll tip $5.00 so the total is $29.67.

If I was paying cash on the exact same bill, though, I'd just leave $30.

My usual method is to tip 20% and then round the tip up to the nearest half dollar or dollar.

So, the bill is almost always an uneven amount.

Wow, someone needs to cut back on their stress load.

Ever had a random thought...personally I thought it was funny, which is why I took the time to answer.

Well, that was my point. Having to worry about the final amount on a restaurant bill...even or odd...doesn't that add to ones stress? Sorry my original post was flame like but I was.....

I almost always leave a cash tip even if I'm paying with a credit card (have had many servers be SO grateful for this... not sure why but I'm wondering whether they don't have to tip out, or maybe just like to go home with some cash in hand). So I am more likely to tip a rounded-up amount... I don't think people like getting pennies, nickels, and dimes.

I tip a flat amount because I round up. Assuming the service was decent, I just do this:

Bill = $23.58

I take $2.35, and then I double it to $4.70 and then make it $5 and that's what/how I tip. I find it brainless so I can keep jabbering away like I do at dinners out.

I'm so glad to see the numbers are pretty well even. I had never thought about it before going out with my friend that day, and I was wondering if I was the only odd duck who routinely left $5.12 instead of just a fiver.

I like nice even numbers on my statement as well. I don't know why, since it really makes no difference on my credit card statement. Just a quirk I guess...

I'll figure out the tip I plan on leaving (always at least the 15% but it's usually closer to 20% and, sometimes, more than 20%) and then add the change to round the total up to an even dollar amount. For instance: bill was $27.11; I planned on a $5.40 or so tip which I upped to $5.89; total bill + tip = $33. I do this unless I'm just not feeling up to the math (very rare for me) and then I just leave a flat $$ amount.
