We are going to use valet parking this upcoming stay at the BCV. I understand that we do not pay for parking, but how much do you tip the valet? Do you tip when you drop off the car and pick up the car each and every time?

What about the bell services that bring your bags to your room. Last time we transferred from one resort to the BWV and while I believe we tipped someone at the bell service counter, it may not have been the one that delivered the bags to the room. How do you handle this?

Can anyone add to this list of Disney tips:

Airline Bag Handler
Limo Driver
Waiter/Waitress
Valet
Mousekeeping
Bartender
Spa/Hairstylist

You know I read through the post re: Why Cm's Hate DVC Members, and I feel like most DVCer', if the service warrants it - we tip. I don't want to continue the debate, but just say I do not think I have ever read a post here of someone counting down their days to their next argument with a CM, or posts planning how NOT to tip CM's, or posts how to make a CM miserable. I think we sound like a pretty generous and kind group people for the most part.

I hope the CM who posted the "hate" thread, also posted on every other Disney board like this one - because last time I checked - at checkin I was not asked: Do you post on the Disboards?

Anyway, any input on how much/who to tip is appreciated. Have a great day.

If I'm getting a "free valet" service I tend to tip more than if I'm being charged for the service (it's rare I'd pay to valet park). I'd usually go a couple of bucks each way ( drop and collect) if I have the $ on me, if not I'd pay $3 or 4 when I pick the car up. If I don't have the cash available, which happens at times, I do apologise to the valet and try to seek them out when I come back. Not much you can do, IMHO, if you don't have any cash to tip them, but at least if you try to explain it the CM may understand ( he might just think "yeah right I've heard it all before tightwad" but not much more you can do. :) ).

With the bellhop, again not much you can do about the situation, you can ask that it goes to whoever dropped the bag off. I'm sure the situation is a regular one so either the senior guy pockets it all, or they share it (mostly) out at the end of their shift.

I usually give the valet $2 at dropoff and pickup depending on the service. I know dropoff is optional but if they do a good job I don't mind tipping them. If I'm standing around waiting for them to come over and take the car and they are not busy (if I see them standing around), I'll only give $1 or nothing.

Bellman - I usually tip the valet who takes the luggage out of the car $5. The bellman who comes to the room and takes it at checkout, $5 or $10, again depending on the service. We usually have 2 large suitcases and 2 or 3 smaller bags.

When we use the 'free' valet at the DVC resorts we tip $3 at dropoff and $3 at pickup.

$2 for valet parking each way. Since they are often surprised - I don't think many people (DVC member or not) tip them.

$1 per luggage for bell services. I tip both the person who gets my luggage out of the car and the person who brings it to me.

maid service $1 Per person per day. I try to remember to tip on the trash/towel days - but sometimes I forget. :earseek:

10% of the amount you paid for limo driver each way. Sometimes you will be told what the expected tip is for that car and driver.

depending upon service - 15% to 25% for food servers

Bartender - $1 a drink (another unexpected tip - because of the looks I get from the bartenders when I put it in the bottle)

hairstyle - 15 to 20% of the amount you paid (again at WDW anyway an unexpected tip - since I get thanked awhole lot more there than at home)

spa - depending upon how much I enjoyed it 10% to 40% tip. - or how much I needed it....

At the BWV they usually have one person unload your car and another bring it up to the room. Most stays I use two carts and will tip 20.00 per person.

I was doing this also, but i did notice quite often the person i tipped was not the one to actually take my car and park it, nor did they hand the tip off to the one who did. They would only hand me a ticket and throw one in the car. I started just tipping the person who brought it back more.

the valets do get the tip whether you give to them or the guy behind the counter....i always call ahead so my car is waiting and i get the keys from the guy behind the desk and give him the $2 and he told me the guy always gets the tip.....

i give $2 in and out....
the guy who unloads the car......$10
the bellman $10...
waiter/waitresses....20-25%
buffet servers..15-20%
i dont think that dvc ers are cheap...i always see people tipping the valets....and they always are very friendly....also i noticed the same guys at the bwv for years...so it has to be a pretty good job.............
i look at it like this...the vacation is costing quite a few bucks already ..another 40-50 bucks in tips to have my car delievered and my luggage brought to/from my room is a small price to pay......

The industry standard is to tip on pickup. Most sites say $1-2 and some say $2-3. Of course if it's raining or they do something extra, that should affect your decision.

These recommendations match up with what we currently do. I think, for the most part, these people do work hard and a tip is very appreciated.

Have a great night.
