Tipping question

As a future solo traveller, I would like to know how much is appropriate for the housekeeping tip per day?

since it is surpose to be a $1 a day per person - but I generally still leave $2 per day when I travel alone to a non-Dvc resort

Hiya,

Ooops am I doing it wrong?
As you know us Brits are not used to tipping like you guys, though I'm getting better.
I usually leave the tip at the end of my stay, should I leave it each day?

I've done the same thing before too but the problem is that there could be several different housekeepers that clean your room during your stay. They might share the tip between the others that worked before them but my guess would be otherwise.

When solo I tip $2 a day. The mousekeepers always left a card with their name on it. The one exception was AKL. It said in the brochure tipping was not needed. So I didn't tip, but I still feel funny about it. If I'm ever blessed to go there again I will tip.
