tipping mousekeeping?

How many of us tip mousekeeping and how much do you leave? And do you leave $ every day?

We are staying 7 nights in POR. there will be 5 of us.

We tipped $1 a day each when we stayed at AKL and there were two of us. I made cute Mousekeeping envelopes to put the tips in. Strange thing was though they only took the money for 4 days out of the 7...

We tipped $30.00 at the end of our stay. We were 5 (including the 2yo). We stayed 7 nights at CBR. That avg. to about $4.30 a day. I did not think to leave money each day. Maybe my trash would have gotten emptied every day instead of every other practically. lol

I did a search for this about a week ago and finally found a thread by searching "housekeeping," but I apologize as I didn't subscribe or bookmark the thread.

Basically it boiled down to that most people tip $1 per person per day with $1 extra per day. For example, if you have four people in your room you would then tip $5 per day. It was advisable to tip per day in case you had differrent mousekeepers on different days.
