Here is a link to allearsnet.com where they make a suggestion regarding tipping housekeeping. Also, there is another link from allearsnet.com to make some cute mousekeeping envelopes! http://allearsnet.com/btp/aa020303.htm#ques4

Here is the quote from the link:

Can you tell me what the average daily tip is for housekeeping? I've read on this site that sometimes they do nice things like fold the towels in a special way for kids. We don't have children coming with us on this trip. Just wondering. Thanks.

Hi Sharon!

Deciding what amount is appropriate to tip is really up to the individual, but I generally use the following guidelines: For a regular hotel room, $2.00 per day should be sufficient. If you're staying in larger villa-type unit with a kitchen or multiple bedrooms, $5.00 or more a day is appropriate, depending on the number of rooms to be cleaned. If you call Housekeeping for something extra, such as an iron or an extra pillow, a $1.00 tip is correct. You can find fun tip envelopes to leave for Housekeeping here: http://users.adelphia.net/~heidiw/

Have a great time!

I make my envelopes up ahead. There are 4 of us. I put $5.00 in each envelope. I clean the room before leaving, have always gotten great maid service. My room is always spotless, with lots of towels.

Sometimes your lucky enough to get a housekeeper who creates great towel figures, sometimes not. My main concern is not figures though, it that my room is clean.

When 3 of us travel, I leave $5 a day. But when my dd and I traveled in Dec. I left $3 a day. We neaten up the room and don't leave stuff around. So mousekeeping just has to make up bed and swipe down the counters. I will say that we have had the best mousekeeping at AllStarMu. We never had more than the expected mousekeeping at POR and Polynesian, and that was just fine. But, while at AllStarMu last month, our mousekeeper left animals in the window and towel swans and toothbrush holders. It was even more special because the morning that she did that, we had to come back to our room early because my dd was sick. It was a really great surprise.
