We are renting points to stay at OKW and staying for 10 days. I know we only get mousekeeping one time and towel and trash once. How much do you tip the mousekeeping staff. Thanks

It's a personal decision but Disney doesn't consider mousekeepers to be in tipped positions.

To add, you'll only get one full cleaning and no Trash & Towel for 10 days. Here's the info from the website.

Housekeeping
Trash & Towel Service
For stays of seven or less nights, Trash & Towel Service is provided on day four, regardless of whether you're using Member-discounted cash, Vacation Points or a combination of both.
With Trash & Towel service, Housekeeping will:
Empty trash and replace liners in trash bins.
Provide fresh bathroom linens.
Replace shampoo, facial soap and bath soap.
Replenish facial tissues, paper towels and toilet paper.
Replenish coffee, sugar, cream and sweeteners.
Replenish dishwashing liquid, dishwashing detergent, sponges and laundry detergent as needed in One-, Two- and Three-Bedroom Vacation Homes.
Full Cleaning Service
For stays of eight or more nights, Full Cleaning Service is provided on day four and Trash & Towel Service is provided on day eight. After that, the cycle begins again on day 12, regardless of whether you're using Member-discounted cash, Vacation Points or a combination of both.
With Full Cleaning service, Housekeeping will provide everything included with the Trash & Towel Service, plus:
Change the bed linens.
Vacuum and dust the Vacation Home.
Clean the bathroom(s).
Clean the kitchen/kitchenette and wash the dishes.
Pay As You Play
With Pay As You Play service, you'll be provided with the following amenities free of charge at the start of your stay. After that, you may purchase more for the following fees:
Toiletries Package, $5.00 - 1 facial soap, 1 bath soap, 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 shower gel
Coffee Package, $3.00 - 1 package of coffee, 8 sugars, 8 creamers, 8 artificial sweeteners
Towel Package, $6.00 - 4 bath towels, 2 hand towels, 4 washcloths, 1 bath mat
Laundry Detergent (only in One-, Two-, and Three-bedroom Vacation Homes), $1.00 - 1 box
Additional Full Cleaning Rates:
Studio/Inn Room - $30.00 per day requested
One-Bedroom - $45.00 per day requested
Two-Bedroom - $60.00 per day requested
Three-Bedroom - $75.00 per day requested
Additional Trash & Towel Rates:
Studio/Inn Room - $15.00 per day requested
One-Bedroom - $20.00 per day requested
Two-Bedroom - $25.00 per day requested
Three-Bedroom - $35.00 per day requested

If you stay 10 days, you get a full cleaning on day 4 and then, a trash and towel on day 8.

We tip the following:
Studio...$5.00 full housekeeping
1-bedroom...$10.00 full housekeeping

We keep the 'do not disturb' on our door knob the rest of the time because we prefer to not have anyone come in. We keep our room neat and like to treat our room/rooms like our own house, so we prefer the privacy of having the 'do not disturb' sign out.

We also leave the same upon checkout.

Per a CM that I talked with, all non-tipped positions that receive one, should turn the tips in to go towards a CM party.

We don't tip Mousekeeping unless they do something over and above their normal responsibilities.

We Tip.

Yes, it is a non-tipping position, etc., etc., but we have been blessed enough to be able to go to Disney and be involved in the DVC. I doubt many of the housekeeping staff can say as much. We need to share our blessings as we walk through our journey. A tip is not much of our blessings.

Over the years I have tried to tip non-tipped positions at Disney and have always been told by the CM that they are not allowed to except tips. Here is something else I read about this subject. It’s a Disney motto that great service should not be tipped, it’s what you are expected to receive when you visit the resort. That’s why compliments are HUGE to Disney employees. Whenever they receive a compliment, they earn Disney Bucks like Mouse Moola, that can be turn in for prizes like See’s Candies, Movie Tickets, or Gift Certificates. It’s an incentive program. If they do receive a tip, they are to donate the money to Make a Wish Foundation under the Disney Company.

I sent an email in August to DVC Member Satisfaction regarding whether or not mousekeepers may keep tips. I wish I had saved the response (thought I did but can't find it) so I could post it here. The reply said that mousekeepers DO NOT have to turn over their tips.
Tipping is a personal decision. We always tip and will continue to do so. The mousekeepers are always very grateful. It is hard to find people who will do a good job cleaning other people's messes for the kind of wages that mousekeepers make (starting pay is $8.35/hour). I also tip my cleaning people at home. Again, it is up to each person to do what s/he feels is appropriate.

think how very tedious it must be to spend your life cleaning up villas day in and day out. the highlight of a mousekeeper's day is probably the tips nice dvcers leave. i leave a modest $10 for a one-person, one-week stay, probably will increase this next trip.:laundy:

It is a personal decision, but I find the amount I leave depends on the way I find my room upon check in, and how they refill my supplies on the days they are to be done,(without asking).

It sounds like they confirmed that housekeeping was not a tipped position though.

Wow that's a funny response from Member Satisfaction. I Personaly know a housekeeper at the Grand Cal. She told me under no circumstances is she alowed to keep any tip money left in the room. As a matter of fact she is to call her supervisor so the supervisor can take the money and put it toward a petty fund to recognize good work by getting gift cards or something.

I am prepared to tip the first housekeeper who doesn't hover at the door, or walk into our occupied unit, starting at 0830 on check-out day. Unfortunately, it hasn't happened yet... (pet peeve - can you tell?)

That's good. My view is that it is not appropriate to tip people in a non tipped position simply for doing their job. Now if they do something extra, that is a different ballgame and I find they often do extra. And while I'm aware of the history if early morning phone calls and checking to see if you're still in the unit or not, I've never seen inappropriate issues along either lines. To me the stated reasons most give for tipping don't hold water because they don't tip others in similar pay and support situations who support the resorts/members just as much as the housekeepers do. Ultimately everyone has to make their own decisions though.
