Would you tip the maintenance staff for making a repair in your room ?

If it was something that broke due to myself or family,I think a tip would be a nice gesture, but otherwise I wouldn't. :thumbsup2:cool1::cool1::cool1:

A few yrs ago, we had checked into a DVC room that the drawers on the dresser was broken. We had called maintenance and the guy rebuilt the thing replacing about two dozen screws. We felt guilty not to give him something but on the other hand why was the room released in such a condition.

In think in the future, I would call maintenance but not hang around the room.

To me it depends on the service, not the task, nor who created the problem. Tips are a reward for service above and beyond expectations not a reward for someone doing their job.

Read my post. Not for job for extra service.

What is "extra" service? This is a service you shouldn't have to ask for but have to because of their error. You have to tip someone for fixing a room that shouldn't have been broken to begin with? They should be tipping YOU, not the other way around. I think a polite "thank you" would more than suffice. (after they apologize on behalf of Disney for the inconvenience).

What's next? Tipping security for being a nice guy as they search your bags?

They wouldn't be able to accept it the tip cms are not allowed to except tips unless their in a tipped role the best thing you can do is remember their name and let their manager know how they did.

I realize that I won't (can't) win this arguement with those that don't think it appropriate to reward what I would call extra service but what do you mean by "their error"? Punish (or don't show appreciation for) the man that does the work for a modest wage because of a failing by the company that employs him? I'm not a member of the entitlement club that looks down on those that could use the recognition and extra cash while I'm spending thousands on a vacation that they possibly cannot afford.

So how does that apply to Mousekeeping?

Here a good article of who can get tipped but remember you do not have to give a tip to mousekeeping they are not supposed to expect tips. Disney says if you want to tip house keeping do it daily instead of at the end of your stay because their might be a different house keeper each day. Put it in a envople saying house keeping so they know it okay for them to take it with out getting in trouble.

in the article is the email for disney world for guest comments you could write them with the name of the maintenance if they did a good job that would be the best way to recognize them.

Many Disney travelers feel unsure about how much to tip during their vacations. We find it helps to remember this adage: "only tip if you've been pleased with the service." Beyond that, there are no hard and fast rules -- only some general guidelines, which we outline below.

You go your way and I'll go mine.

okay you can try i not going to stop you from giving tips just be ready for them to turn you down have fun on your trip and hope you have a great stay.

I wouldn't.

I don't tip the guy who fixes my car, changes the oil, or the AC repair guy, or the plumber. Maintenance isn't a "tip" supplemented position.

In a lot of cases letting the manager or the supervisor known what an excellent job they did maybe better than getting a tip.
