Tipping for Room Service

What is the standard tip for those who bring room service? We plan on using it quite a bit, for breakfast/snacks, and I don't want to be cheap!!

There are no "guidelines" or "suggestions" for room service tipping. My personal <i><b>suggestions</b></i> are as follows:

$2 minimum.
$1 for each additional person receiving service.
$1 if all you're getting is coffee or tea.

So you'll want to start saving single dollar bills prior to your cruise.

One way to save those singles that we've used. We pay our kids allowance in singles, so that they can split it into savings and "their money". They've been saving it since early February. I went up and traded all their singles for larger bills. That gave me almost $100 in ones. Of course that takes up LOTS of room! I just shoved it into my passporter along with everything else!

We found that $2 was a good amount to tip for room service. They were always very nice and appreciative. It was fun for our kids to be the ones to give the tip. It made them feel important. We did find out later that my 11 yr old DS ordered room service but didn't give a tip. He figured if we weren't around then no tip was needed.

On both cruises we have been on we used room service for snacks between meals and for breakfasts when we were in a Port or Castaway Cay. It really helps to get going when you have two kids who are slow in the morning.

We always tip $2 for room service and they are always appreciative.
