tipping for mousekeepers... daily? at end of stay?

We tip daily.... our reasoning is sometimes the mousekeepers change rooms, so it is the luck of the draw for who gets the big 'end of stay' tip.

I tip 5 bucks a day.... why.... we are a bit messy.... not like Oscar, but not Felix either! :) We have two small kids and a lot of stuff.... it gets a little scattered, so I feel they are providing more than the regular service, so we tip.

Plus I really like printing out all the lovely mousekeeping envelopes!! Brightens my day just looking at them! :D

Tipping is a personal decision. Mousekeeping is a not a tipped position. I see no reason to tip someone doing their job. But if you choose to tip I would do so daily because you may not have the same maid day to day.

I have always tipped housekeeping at hotels. These people most often work for minimum wage and a tip is a nice way of saying thank you for doing a job few of us would choose to do. We leave a mess and they clean it up. Sure, they are paid for it, but c'mon...

At Disney, we print Mousekeeping envelopes to leave daily. Our standard is $2/person, but if we left a mess, I may drop in some extra $. We also usually leave a note inside -- just something like "Thanks for taking care of us" or "Thanks for being part of the magic."

Sometimes, the mousekeepers have left extra amenities for us or extra towels. A few times they left us a nice note thanking us for the tip. A couple of times, the mousekeeper left us a towel animal! It was really nice.

Housekeeping is a service just like velet parking, or the baggage handlers that deal with your bags coming or going from the resort. We always tip housekeeping several dollars a day and leave in the bathroom for them to see. If you leave it out in the room, they probably won't pick it up, so we leave ours in the bathroom leaned up against the mirror. They've been instructed to not pick up envelopes in the "room" fearing that it wasn't ment for them. We're also a messy group and so I always $5 or so each time.

We always tip housekeepers, wherever we stay. I usually leave $2/per person/per night. And, tip daily because you may have different housekeepers different days! :D
