Hi! I just stayed at RPR and on room service items and items ordered at the Bula Grill (near the pool) it said tip included. Does anyone ever tip more? I really get "befuddled" on proper tipping.

So...what would you do..................???????????????.........
:confused3 When it says "tip included"?

:confused3 How much do you tip the baggage claim person at the airport?

:confused3 How much would you tip the person who drives you to SeaWorld (round trip price was $30)?

:confused3 How much do you tip the person who drives you from the airport to the hotel?

:confused3 The person who brings your luggage to the room?

 The only tipping I am confident about is when I tip at a restaurant!

I also know this: tipping sure accumulates to $$$$ by the end of your travel!

Thanks :wave2:

If it is 18%, it depends on the service. If the service was average or below, we go with the 18%. If the service was really good service, we add an additional amount to go up to the standard 20% or phenominal may even get a bit more.

Our standard is $2.00 per bag. If there are a couple of really small bags - like the kid's backpacks - we might count those as 2 for $2.00. Again it depends on the service. We have 5 people in our family, so we usually have 3 large suitcases and a few smaller carry ons. It usually ends up about $10.00.

$5 or $6

We always rent a car so don't know, but probably the standard 18 - 20%

Again $2.00 per bag. Same as the bag handler at the airport. Usually rounded up to the nearest $5 or $10

This vacation tipping is hard to get a handle on. I have no idea if we are within the "accepted" norm, but that is what they are getting :goodvibes

I hear you!!! It can really add up fast. Especially at the hotels when you have one person put your stuff from the car onto the Valet cart, and then another totally different person bringing it up to your room. I always feel like I am tipping twice for something that should be done by the same person

I am also curious to see what others tip! :goodvibes

There's a web site for stuff like this.

http://www.tipping.org/

I just visited NY and had $30 in singles for tipping.
There's a bunch of frustration with limo drivers and bag handlers.

Tip the first limo driver and don't assume he'll be back. Some tip the first driver a big amount, then are shocked to find a different driver for the way back to the airport.

Next little gimmick is the bag people. One person walks your bags into the hotel, then another takes them up to your room. I'd only tip each one of these people a couple bucks.

On shuttle drivers at the airport that take me to the rental car building, I usually tip a couple bucks.

Having a bunch of singles will help you. Visit the bank with a few $20s and ask for singles.

At the hotel I leave $5 a day on the night stand for the maid. They're thrilled to get a tip, some leave more if they get personal service. Again, the maid can be different each day, so leave it daily with a note saying you need extra towels etc.

Thanks robvia and goofy! It seems like I'm in the same ballpark. It's great to have these boards to answer all kinds of questions!!!
At the hotel I leave $1 per person every day.

Robvia-your knowledge on Discovery Cove was right on the mark. Your pictures and info was great. It was a wonderful experience!

Thanks!!!!

I'll admit that this is where we sometimes shortchange service. We never tips less than 20%. For good service, we tip more. Unless, the tip's included. If they include the tip on our food bill, we don't tip another cent. I hate it when they do that, & in our case they always come out worse than they would have had we been free to add a tip of our choosing.

Like the others, $2 to $3 per bag. It depends on how much effort they put into it, & how helpful they are. At cruise ship terminals, we tip at least $3/ bag. I'm not crazy about the idea of being in the middle of the ocean with no luggage. :p We also usually round up to avoid needing so many ones.

It depends on the way they drive & if they take the fastest, most direct route. At least $5. If they're personable & share local info. with us, we tip more.

We tip for the drive & loading the luggage. See above for the drive. We usually pay $1/bag for loading our luggage.

You're actually only supposed to tip the person who delivers your luggage to your room. It's not necessary to tip the person loading the cart. They have a system that assures everyone is taken care of. We tip at least $10. More if we have a lot of luggage, & I usually do.
