We often do a Saturday - Saturday trip. Our kids are little, so the first park they want to do is MK, and our last day is always a few favorites, also at MK. Saturday seems to be a VERY busy day at the Magic Kingdom! It is a frustrating way to begin and end your trip! I will consider beginning and ending on different days next time!

We're fans of hitting MK right at rope drop on Sundays- it seems to work well for us!

We too usually do Saturday to Saturday but we dont do parks on arrival day or leaving day as we drive and get in later and leave early and do not want to waste a day.

Next time we go we are planning on starting with a late character dinner and leaving after a character breakfast :)

Our first day in the parks we are just going to hop and see wht we want to do.

We just got back from a Sat-Sat trip and played at the hotel the first day, then started off w/a bang at CRT at 8am, EMH started at 9, and we walked on to everything for the rest of the morning. It was a great start to the trip.

I do not think sat to sat is a bad thing. When you arrive you are usually tired etc. and the parks are crowded on that day. It is a good reason to not go there and enjoy the hotel.

Then when you leave on a Sat it is also good for the same reasons. You get the most bang for your buck week days.

If you do go to the parks go later afternoon around 3pm they die down then. Play for a few hours end it with a nice dinner or character meal. Go back to the hotel relax and start fresh on sunday!

We Love Sat. to Sat. trips for all reasons posted here. We also take a "down day" (usually Wednesday) and do nothing but rest and sleep, no parks, just hotel stuff, and do a signature dinner with a later ADR. This has become a real must do for us, as we are so revived and rested up to continue the rest of the week. The kids can also catch up on any homework they are missing since we take them out of school to go on our WDW trips. (I keep threatening to home school just so we don't have the usual hassles taking them out of school, plus we could plan as many WDW trips as we wanted).

I can't imagine if we arrived at Disney and then I told my little princess we were not going to MK until the next day! After the hype of traveling all day - "we're almost there", "one more bus ride", etc. She is sooooooooooo ready to just GET on those rides!

Also, what do you do at the hotel on a week like this last one? Too cold to swim!

We arrive mid-day Saturday, walk into MK for a few hours (Ride Small World and a couple of other smaller rides) then hop over to the Contemporary for dinner w/ the Fab 5 at Chef Mickey's.

This way we get our MK/castle fix as well as meet Mickey and friends the very first day!

We also spend the evening of our last day at MK and then leave after breakfast the following morning (usually a Sunday).

We try to arrive mid-week either a Tues or Wed & come home on those days mainly because flights are cheaper.

I love it. We don't do a park on arrival day. Then we do a park for a day or two, have a day off, repeat..

We have to go to MK the first day too, but usually for just a couple of hours to soak up the atmosphere, maybe catch a ride or two. I am actually quite sad as we are arriving late this year--we'll unpack and head to bed. But we'll be at Mk for rope drop the next day (for sure). :goodvibes And we almost always end our trip there too. The Magic Kingdom is Walt Disney World is you ask me. ::yes::

Although our flight is supposed to arrive at noon, we couldn't see spending the $$ on tickets for less than a full day. Instead, unhurried, we will take DME and check in. We have Ressies at Chef Mickey's and can take the time to walk through some resorts, ride the monorail, and maybe hit DTD. Although DSpirate: & DD princess: won't be going in the parks they will get to see come characters and begin their WDW experience. We have also prepared them for going to the park the next morning so they will know we ARE going, just the next day.:cool1:

After being in a car for 17 hours or so, a brief stay over night at a roadside motel, the last thing Im going to do is take my little princess and pirate to any park. And too cold to swim would be subject to where you live normally. 70 in the summer here in Pa doesnt feel warm enough to swim to us, however, 70 in Orlando, in December, feels plenty warm. But there were other things my kids did around the resort to. My dd played twister daily at pop century, ds just like playing with the huge things.

We've done Saturday at MK, and found it not bad at all. I guess it just depends on when. :confused3
