I have seen numerous references to tip envelopes. What are they and how do you use them?

People have also mentioned leaving a tip for housekeeping each day, but on my departure morning, I leave a tip that covers my entire stay. What's the kosher thing to do?

I usually leave a tip every morning, because you could have a different Mousekeeper every day of your stay. If you wait til the end, then the Mousekeeper that cleans that morning gets the whole thing!

I second that!

I secondly second that. I often have a little request, more pillows, etc. And, I feel better doing that when I leave a tip each day. On the one or two times I've also found that the mousekeepers go nuts giving us towel animals, setting up my DD's toys in little "scenes" etc. On our honeymoon we also got a return note almost every day wishing us well, etc.

We left tips everyday along with little notes for the mousekeepers. We often got notes back thanking us. It was nice. They also did some relly cool stuff with our teddy bears. :rotfl: No towel animals though. Maybe next time.

Use the ones we made on our site..linky in my signature!

Have a great trip!

We just leave a regular envelope each morning with "Thank You" written on the front. We've gotten towel animals, notes, and have had our stuffed toys & mouse ears placed in interesting scenes around the room.

I tipped Mousekeeping every day on our past three trips. We stayed at All Star Sports, Dixie Landings and Coronado Springs. We have never had a towel animal or anything else left for us; just a clean room.

I guess it's totally a matter of personal preference whether you tip daily or all at once, but as someone who works in the service industry, it's just human nature that once you know someone appreciates you, you'll go out of your way to show your appreciation for them. If you wait until you leave to tip, your Mousekeeper doesn't know you're a tipper (some people choose not to tip at all), and doesn't have an opportunity to demonstrate their best service capacity.

On our last trip, our Mousekeeper went way out of her way (dropped everything and came down the hall) to thank us as we were leaving.

The mouse for less .com has some good one to print out and dome other downloads for your trip as well. These are the ones we used. :sunny:

We just recently came back from our trip to POFQ. I left the Mousekeepers tip on the small, round table. There was nothing else left on it to avoid confusion. It was taken each day. Our room was always immaculate! :cool1:

We (DH and I) just got back from GF - we left a daily tip and were given 10 bath towels, 7 hand towels and 11 facecloths - DAILY along with new toiletries!! I know because I counted! Some of the faceclothes were because the maid had pleated and folded nice shapes - not animals. I felt she appreciated the tips and we appreciated her giving us all the toiletries.

How much do you tip each day? I never ask for anything extra, but of course I'm grateful for the tidying up they do, even though I'm really neat. I don't have kids, it's usually just me and my spouse.

I've had friends who work as housekeepers at hotels, and the things they tell me about slobs who don't tip! Makes me angry.

Last trip we tipped $10 a day, because it was in our budget, because we have two children, and because I feel anyone who cleans my toilet deserves it.

We used DizkneeNurse's envelopes (THANK YOU!) and they worked great. I actually printed out four different envelopes, had the $10 bills inside, locked them in the safe, and just pulled one out every day before we left for the parks. It made it effortless.

i seem to be the only one who had this problem - on our last trip we stayed three nights, and each night i left a tip in an envelope that said "MOUSEKEEPING" on it, in the same spot, the table by the door. well the first night they took the tip, but the next two nights, they didn't! :confused3 weird.

It was just my wife and myself,... we were very neat,... didn't leave any mess or trash laying around at all. We tipped $3 per day. :teeth:

I have these already to print out and fill with $$ before we leave (in 9 days!!). I had an issue last year when one morning I realized we needed to tap MAC and didn't have any tip money to leave. We usually leave $5/day. I'll have these ready and won't need to search for any cash every morning.

These are adorable! Thanks!!! :goodvibes

I have heard that the housekeeping staff pools tips at the WDW Resort hotels, and a relative who used to be a manager in the industry said that any good hotel will pool tips. Has anyone heard differently?

I nonetheless gave $5 every day on my last visit.
