Day 15 - Sea World
Today we were going Sea World, we were up and out the door just after 9am and parking the car by 9:25am. This time we didnt need to activate out APs so the boys went off the Kraken while DD and I have some breakfast at the bakery. We made our way to Kraken but it was experiencing technical difficulties so DH & DS were still waiting for their go. The delay lasted another 10 minutes then they were off on the front row.
The both enjoyed it and DS rode again, this time in the 3rd row. From Kraken it was over to wild Atlantis and we had two goes on this and only DS and DD got wet.
We then made our way over to the Shamu stadium for the 11:15am Believe show and it was packed. DH & DD sat in the soak zone while DS and I sat a bit higher up. It was another great show and slightly different to the one two days ago. We left the stadium a few minutes before the show ended and went over to Shamus happy harbour. This has changed since last year and they have got rid of a lot of the wet play area and the covered sand area and replaced them with a tea cup type ride and a kiddy coaster which is even shorter than Goofys Barnstorming Roller coaster.
The area was deserted when we arrived but soon got packed once everyone got out of the Shamu show. It was very hot in here and after half an hour both DS and DD were looking very red and we needed to leave. We decided to go over to the Sea Fire inn for lunch and had 4 x Tavern Burgers a couple of drinks and a piece of chocolate cake for DS, the total came to $36.37. It was way too much food and apart from DH none of us finished our meal, we would have been better off ordering 2 meals between the 4 of us and getting 2 extra buns. We left the Sea Fire Inn and went up on the Sky Tower as it didnt involve too much walking straight after lunch, you get a fantastic view from up here and we were able to see the packed Shaum stadium which had another showing of Believe.
It was nearly time for Pets Ahoy, which is close to the Sky Tower so we made our way into the theatre and some welcomed air-conditioning. There was a Sea World conspiracy to make unsuspecting parents part with more cash as there were CMs selling glow in the dark lighting up things. DD bought a ball on a string for $5, which wasnt bad considering the same one was $8 at Universal. DS got a glowing sword thing for $10. They have been very good about spending their money and are well under budget (although cruel mommy that I am I havent told them this) One of the other things for sale were glowing / flashing teeth?? Now these would go down well at the local disco.
As usual the show was good and well worth seeing. We left Pets Ahoy and decided to catch the 3:30 Clyde & Seymour show. We had time to kill so DS and DH headed off for one last go on Kraken and DD & I went to the Penguin exhibit. One of the trainers was in the exhibit in her thermals (it was so flippin hot today I was going to ask to join her) You could ask questions as you went along the moving walkway. DD asked how old penguins lived to, but unfortunately she just started to answer our question as we got to the end of the walkway and had to get off. I think the answer was 25 years in captivity and half that in the wild.
We went to find the boys and Kraken was again experiencing technical difficulties which meant they hadnt got on yet. We waited in the shade and it was probably about 20 minutes before they got their ride in the front again and got back to us. DS wanted to go on Atlantis but DD didnt so we left the boys to ride Atlantis while DD & I went and got the seats for the Clyde & Seymour show.
We were seated just above the two rows reserved for Sea World Platinum pass holders and the amount of people who looked at the sign and just sat down anyway was amazing. There were two CMs who kept coming over and asking if they had platinum passes then moving them on. One couple just stood up and when the CM turned away they just moved to the Platinum row in front of the one they were in and sat down again.
Soon it was time for the mime artist and luckily DS and DH got there just before he arrive. Once again he was very funny and caught many people unawares.
The show was good but either Clyde or Seymour didnt make an appearance as we only saw one Sea Lion for the entire show. When the show is over we decided it was time to leave as it had been another very hot day and for some reason Sea World seems to feel much hotter than any of the other parks. We stopped on at the Sea Lion enclosure and bought a couple of trays of food. It was fun trying to make sure the Sea Lions got the food and not the white Heron type birds who kept trying to steal it from them.
We left the park and made our way up behind I-Drive for dinner at Sweet Tomatoes which was lovely as usual. I will still full from lunch so didnt eat much but DD tucked into the pizza again. We came back up the I-4 and there was a bad accident on the other side of the road - a car had flipped over onto its roof and there was a very long tail back. We got home at 6pm and DD went swimming while DS watched one of the DVDs we bought the other day.
We are leaving the villa on Sunday so DH started to deflate whale and other pool toys and he managed to smash the oil lamp that was on the table by the pool. Luckily none of the glass went in the pool and he managed pick up all the small bits and then hosed down the deck area to be on the safe side. It meant he needed to go to Walmart on the 27 to try and get a replacement as we wouldnt get a chance to go tomorrow. He was gone for about an hour and managed to get an exact replacement for only $9.
DS went swimming for an hour or so then we all watched TV before going to bed around half 9.
Tomorrow the cinema and Cirque
