Hi everyone,

wondering if anyone might know where I can find a tinkerbell costume for 16yr old daughter. I need it to be cheap. dh is out of work, & dd is buying it with her own $. It is for a themed student government project. Anyone have any ideas????

thanks.

Dee

Making a costume would probably be the most cost effective way! It would be pretty easy too -- a green tank top, and a pair of green sweatpants, cut up to resemble Tink's skirt. Add a pair of Isotoner-type slippers, some wings (can be found pretty cheap at Target or Walmart) and throw some glitter on the whole thing.. good to go! :thumbsup2

It is not the cheapest way to go but it is a choice

About what size is your dd. I have my dd's dance costume from last year that while it wasn't Tinkerbelle, it was along the same lines but without wings. I'd be happy to send it along to you.

I would check out Goodwill, or any local thrift shop.
Look for an old green dress/formal. Cut the parts off you don't need in a ragged way, so it will look like they are leaves.
To make a pair of wings you need wire coat hangers, pantyhose, greenish paint and time. It is usually more cost eff. to buy them for $9.99 then to make them!
Best of luck to you all.
My DH was out of work 3 times in 2 years, it was very rough! US Navy retire, and then a few companies folded... Hope you all get some good news soon!

DD is about junior 12. If it would fit I would appreciate it. I love the ideas of making one, but I am not that great a sewer. I have tried the thrift shop idea. If your dd costume is right we would pay an affordable amount for it.

Sounds like she's about the same size as DD. If you PM me with your name and address I'll hunt it up and get it out to you. No payment necessary. Once recital is over they just sit in the closet until it gets too full and I send them to Goodwill. Just pass a favor on to someone else when you have a chance.
