Tink Talks-Confessions of a Walt Disney World College Program Cast Member

Well, today was my first dat at POR and I really liked it! I was a greeter for a few hours handing out Mardi Gras beads and talking to people and then I was doing Magical Moments, asking people Disney trivia and giving them certificates. I really enjoyed doing the Magical Moments alot. I am really shy and quiet so this day sort of made me come out of my shell and talk to people. Tomorrow I train on the register, I'm a little nervous! The backstage area at POR is soooo cute! It's all done up Mardi Gras theme, so cute!

Good luck tomorrow with the registers.:)

I have a question for you! We were at Epcot this past Friday - it was right after the park opened and we saw a group of new cast members being brought out right in front of the center fountain. They were announced over the loudspeaker and we were all encouraged to clap for them (which we did). It was very neat to watch. My question for you is - does EVERY new cast member get to go through this? Or just if you are going to be working at Epcot?

I'm looking forward to reading your reports!

have a great first day! my kids and nieces and nephews got to do a few magical moments but they did one at POR. it was our last day, we were eating some lunch before heading to the airport (boo hoo), and they got to decorate these big cookies, they were so excited. it's such a nice idea, it really makes the kids feel special.

can't wait to hear more!

i don't know how i missed your last post, so - great to hear you had a good first day! it's really happening - you're working at disney!!!

i'm curious, do you get any perks for going to the parks or anything. i was lucky enough to get a massage last time at the dolphin and the masseuse (he said he wasn't an employee of wdw) said they got a free ticket to each park one time a year. just wondering how it works for the CP.

have a great day today!

Glad your first day went well. I'm sure you will do just fine on the registers. :thumbsup2

Hi Nicole! Glad you had a great first day, I just knew you'd love doing the Magical Moments. I bet you made a lot of kids very happy!

Good luck with training on the register today, I'm sure with your previous retail experience it'll be a breeze. I wish we were still there with you!! You're making me almost want to go back to school just so I can be eligible for the CP, it sounds like so much fun.

Just Epcot CMs. I went through that last summer- it was soooooo embarrassing, but made me feel so proud.

So happy to hear that your first day went well! We all hope to hear more soon!

Register training went well on Monday. My trainer was a lady who has been with Port Orleans / Dixie Landings since it opened! It was a little easier than I though. My feet were soooo sore when I got off work at midnight.

Yesterday my roomie and I went to Property Control where they have all the damaged and returned merchandise. I bought a ton of stuff! Then we walked over to Cast Connection and bought some more stuff.

We then went to AK and walked around and ate at Pizzafari. The only ride we rode was Dinosaur. We then went to Epcot and rode the ride in Mexico and had a margarita and talked for a while.

This morning some of my roomies and I went back to Property Control and then went to Celebration which was so cute! I really want to live there!:rotfl:

Well, I am going to work in a little while. Have a great day everyone!

It sounds like you're having a great time so far. Do you get a CM discount on food when you eat at places like Pizzafari? Eating in WDW can get sooo expensive! Do you have to wear certain shoes with your costume? I was just thinking that your feet wouldn't hurt so bad if you could wear your Crocs but I don't recall ever looking at a CM's feet so I have no idea if that's allowed!

Also, just wanted to let you know you may be working with my friend. She just went down for her 4th program, this time for merchandise, and she got Port Orleans. She is about to start training.

It depends on the resturant. Some do have the discount, some don't.

Also, crocs are not allowed unfortunately.

sounds like a lot of fun. seems like maybe the homesickness is a little better, i hope. i used to get that so bad when i went to new places. even college.

so do you get to go to the parks for free? discount? so lucky!
can't wait to hear more!

Cool, didn't know there was a CM shop.

Neat!

ooooooo I miss Property control!!!!
