Palm trees and Mickey Mouse, here we come!!! Trip planned since May.
Who: ME (female 49)
+ 5 yo GRANDSON
When: December 1-6
Where: Polynesian
Events: MVMCP on Dec 2 with PS
at LTT. I decide not to get bogged down with a lot of PS, because I don't like structuring my day around them.
Pretrip Details -
We booked our trip thru a TA. We will FLY to Orlando non-stop. We will not be using Disney to book air anymore after our last fiasco. After our cruise last spring, they booked us on a connecting flight that departed only 25 mins after the first flight was to land. Naturally, everyone missed the flight, were stuck in Philly for 6 hours, and didn't get home til 1 am (and we were lucky not to get bumped off that flight). Lesson learned - direct flights only from now on.
For GROUND trans, we will use Mears to Polynesian Resort since there will be only two of us (post trip note: we will use towncars from now on).
This will be my third time staying at the POLYNESIAN. We love it there, but choose it mostly because it is so easy to get around WDW with children from the Polynesian. This is my grandson's second trip to WDW, but this is the first time we are going alone together, just the two of us (yikes!).
Other pretrip tid bits - I decide to buy Pal Mickey before we leave. I am excited when he arrives. I sew a small santa cap to Mickey's head to make him look more festive. I surprise my grandson with Pal Mickey the day before we leave. Looks like he is a hit.
From reading the boards, I use my handy noose... er... water bottle holder to loop around Mickey's neck to carry him more easily. I agonize over whether or not to bring the umbroller stroller. I comb the Dis Boards for suggestions and decide to leave the stroller at home and rent one in the parks, if needed (post trip note: I could NOT have survived without renting strollers at the parks). I had been using high quality sunless tanners leading up to our trip, hoping to look less like a pasty midwesterner. I am pleased with results. I try to be organized and prepared. I make copies of all important papers, one set to keep with me, one set for home. Thinking back of last years trip, I bring plenty of moleskin for feet and scissors to cut it with. Did you ever try cutting moleskin with those little travel kit sewing scissors? You can't. I pack all my vitamins and things like aspirin, childrens Tylenol, bandaids, etc. It looks like we are all set to go. I have that nervous feeling. I end up getting only 2 hours sleep before alarm goes off at 2 am. Need to be at the airport at 5 AM.
To be continued to Day 1
