Wednesday was our check-out day from CSR as we were moving over to All Star Music for 4 nights to take advantage of the $65.00 rate. I had originally wanted to stay at ASMu for the full 7 nights, since it was a such a good rate, but it was only available for the 4 nights, at the time I phoned CRO. When I was offered CSR at $119.00, I decided it might be nice to check out another moderate as we had loved staying at Dixie Landings. At check-in, I had asked for a late check-out at CSR so we could have a relaxing morning and it had been my intention to have Disney move us over, but in the end, we just packed up the van ourselves. I figured with two able-bodied teenagers and the fact that we weren’t parked that far away, it wasn’t that big of a deal. DH will disagree, though, as he feels the heat and humidity the most!

We arrived at ASMu about noon and again there was no line-up at check-in. We were assigned a non-smoking room but it was not ready yet. So we decided to go and have some lunch in the food court. We decided to buy 3 mugs here (we didn’t buy any at CSR) and DH just used one of ours when we were finished. There was a sink at the beverage bar to wash the mugs out, which was very convenient, I thought!

Around 1pm I phoned the number I had been given at check-in and found out we had been assigned building 9, which was a Jazz Inn. We really liked the location as it was just beyond the noise of the main pool, but not too far to walk to the food court or bus stop located at the front entrance. After we had hauled all our luggage up to our room, DH was off for a game of golf and Dan and I decided to go to the Grand Floridian for afternoon tea. We had done this as a family in March and Dan really liked this. Tim was happy to stay at ASMu with some money for the arcade and of course, he again had charging privileges on his room key.

Dan and I arrived at the Grand Floridian and had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated in the Garden View Lounge. He ordered his favourite lemon pound cake and cinnamon tea and I had my usual Garden View Bouquet pot of tea, raisin scones with Devonshire Cream and strawberry preserves and this time, indulged on a mango-cream filled swan pastry, which I could no longer resist! The pianist had begun to play in the lobby, so we went to sit in the comfy chairs there and listen for a while. When he took a break, the jazz band located at one end of the next balcony level took over. I could have sat there, being entertained, for hours!

Afterwards, I wanted to show Dan the Polynesian Resort and he really liked this hotel! Dan excells in art and he was pleased to discover a Wyland Gallery located here. After we spent quite a while thoroughly examining all the gorgeous sculptures and paintings, we finally got back on the monorail and headed to MK to catch a bus to AKL, as he had made up his mind what souvenirs he wanted to buy from the Zawadi Gift Shop.

After our purchases (I ended up buying something too) we walked around a bit, soaking in the peacefulness, before catching a bus to make our way back to ASMu. Most times, we would transfer to an AKL bus at DTD, which seems quite out of the way but as we were never in any hurry, didn’t bother us at all. I could have taken the van, as DH was using Disney’s taxi service to the golf courses, but I decided I’d rather be driven around. After this second visit back to the Lodge, I was really wishing that I had tried to see if I could get one of the discount rates I had seen on the Internet!

Back at our room at ASMu, DH had returned and he and Tim had already eaten. Dan decided to snack on what I had brought from home, so DH and I decided to go to the food court for a coffee and pastry.

I had brought a single-size air bed from home because the kids don’t like sleeping together, especially in a double-size bed. When I moved the small table and chairs over to in front of the window, I discovered that there was actually more room for the mattress along that wall, than there was at CSR, even though the room was smaller. This was because the TV/armoire was smaller than the one at CSR, but it still worked fine for us. Also, we weren’t tripping over the mattress because I could place it right up against the wall and we still had lots of space to walk from the front door right through to the bathroom, if necessary during the night. So I really didn’t find the size difference between a value and a moderate to be problem for us and would certainly stay there again. (I used a hair dryer to inflate the mattress each night and kept it folded away during the day.)

We stay at the All Stars a good bit and enjoy it. We have teenaged kids and they gripe about sleeping together but do it just to get to go to Disney again. LOL

Snuggles, I had been a bit afraid to stay at an AS because of the comments about the small rooms, noise etc. We had a great time there and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Sounds like the resort move went smoothly Julie.

I think that's great that Dan enjoys tea at the GF, it sounds wonderful and yummy!

Visiting the other resorts is a great way to spend the afternoon. We find it very relaxing.

Thanks Julie. :)
