Timing of points rental?

I really should be able to figure this out but for some reason my brain is not wanting to process right now!

I am planning to rent out our April 09 points. We won't be going to WDW at all during that year and instead are planning a trip to Hawaii for summer 09.
I want to say I should be posting them for rent now, since 11 month window just opened up for April 09.
Would that be jumping the gun a little?

Also, my parents want me to help them rent their Sept. 08 points, for the same reason. Trip to Hawaii, no trips to WDW.
I should definately be posting theirs now, right?

Your April 2009 use year points are good for a trip between 4/1/2009 and 3/31/2010. If you post now, you could certainly "negotiate terms" with prospective renters, but as you know, you can't make reservations more than 11 months prior to check out. It's not too early to transfer the points to another members' 2009 use year, though, so you could start out by offering to do a transfer only. Transfers are generally easier / quicker than renting a reservation. After you and the other DVC Member agree on terms, one phone call and you're done.

If you make reservations for stays prior to 4/1/2009, you will have to borrow the points into your 2008 use year - that's a bit risky, since borrowing is a final transaction. Once borrowed, the 2009 points would have to be used by 3/31/2009 or they will be forfeited.

Bottom line: - It may be just a tad early, unless you want to try transferring the points to another member or you think someone out there specifically wants your home resort next April or May.

Your parents' September 2008 points are good for trips between 9/1/2008 and 8/31/2009. Definitely not too early to post an offer to rent (or transfer) those points.

I kept going over and over it in my head, maybe I just needed to see it in writing for it to make sense.
Definately don't want to borrow in order to get them rented, so may wait on listing my own for rent.
Will definately get my parents listed though!
